Flac client on linux

I have set up my server to play my flac collection. It works flawlessly on my Andoid phone.

On my Linux box, which is also the server, I can only play mp3 files.
I have tried the native client built into the console in all possible modes (web player, external player, external player with playlist, and jukebox), as well as mini, minisub, and perisonic.
None of these worked.

What setup do most people use?

Thanks in advance. The project seems interesting if I could just get it to work on my desktop.
