Help! Playlist Duping songs!

Postby seth.feinberg » Mon Oct 22, 2012 11:28 pm

I have one playlist on subsonic that I painstakingly built. It has ~720 songs on it. I use it as an easy playlist to download onto my devices. Today I noticed that instead of putting Billy Joel Piano man in the playlist, I accidentally put that whole album. When I went to delete, I hit the "x" on the far right of the song listing. Nothing happened. I reloaded subsonic in my browser and I then had 1440 songs in my playlist. I stopped the subsonic service and restarted it, still 1440 songs. I tried to delete one of the dupes, nothing happened. I stopped Subsonic and robooted my nas. Now there are >4000 songs in this one playlist and it no longer seams to be following the started doubling path. WTF is going on? Is there any ways for me to revert back to a previous version of the playlist? I'm not entirely sure I saved the playlist before it started multiplying on its own will...

Well just tried again (foolishly) to delete a song with the x button and now I have 9200+ songs in this playlist (figured I wasn't going to go through and delete 3300+ dupes and was gonna have to start over anyways). Insanely mad. If somebody knows how to roll back to a previous date with a playlist I would be very very grateful...

Well I painstakingly rebuilt the 720 song playlist by scrolling down the 9200 song playlist and adding one instance of all the songs in there. Or at least I tried, but I failed cause I ended up with 768 songs. So I am in the same spot as yesterday before my master playlist started multiplying like a family of drunk rabbits. I'm TERRIFIED to click the "remove from playlist" button in this playlist, however this time I have exported it so theoretically I should have a point I can restore from.

Has anyone experienced this type of behavior from the "remove from playlist" button? and if so, any ideas on how to fix it?

If not, does anyone know how I can delete songs added to a playlist? And along those lines, is there any way I can sort a playlist by song title or artist so its easier to locate the dupes?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I think you need to be patient when using that button on such a large playlist. By reloading/restarting/etc... while subsonic was probably in the process of a database update to remove the item probably caused the issues you saw.

Try hitting remove and waiting for subsonic to refresh the playlist... I bet it will take a while but it will work.

@bushman4 thanks so much for your reply. Perhaps you're right, but just to clarify I wasn't actually refreshing the database, but hitting refresh on my browser (though I guess its possible a refresh of the WebGui refreshes the db). Either way I'll give it a shot on my new playlist but that's pretty discouraging news. I need to delete around 50 songs, and it appears its going to take awhile. Is there any better way (plugin or otherwise) to manage playlists better?
