I'm hoping this feature can get rolled into subsonic at one point. I really need the ability as I'm sure others to sort music by genre, artist or song title. I don't currently see that ability in the android application itself. So for example, my music isn't arranged into folders, but just all in one folder. So I have to scroll through 2,000+ songs to find what I want. If I could sort, it would be helpful.

You might be interested in the MusicCabinet mod that I'm working on.
In the web interface, you get a genre cloud for your artists: http://imgur.com/a/JTgwb#2
And you can also filter your artists in the left frame based on genre (here's alt-country used as filter): http://imgur.com/a/JTgwb#5
The same filtering can be done in the Android app.
