folders not being updated 4.7?

I just installed 4.7 last night and so far everything was good. But now I am having an issue with not seeing new items in the folder. Do I really have to rescan the media folders every time I add something now? I am hoping I am just missing something here

to add to this, Once I rescan the new album shows up on the web version but takes an extra 10 or so minutes to show up in the android app.

I'm having a similar problem, only the folders are not updating new content period, even when I do a manual rescan. I've tried restarting the service several times, not sure what's wrong.

Yeah.
I have been re-ripping my mp3 music to Flac and the old folders are still showing in Subsonic. So now I got double folders for the CDs, one empty.
My folder structure is so that i got one mp3 folder where all mp3 music is and one for flac.
Subsonic keeps the old information and I am not able to find a way to remove the old "folders" from it´s memory.
There is only one artist though.

Here is my structure as shown by Subsonic (Some time since i made a folder tree. Now I know why...)

There is an option to Clean-up folders under Settings > General.

Same problem. Cleaning the database and rescanning still doesn't cause the missing items to display. Some but not all folder names that don't appear contain the ampersand character but not all of them. Some folders show up but no list of songs appear. I checked file permissions (WinXP) but all seems correct. I hope this is a bug that can be fixed in the next release since quite a few songs and folders just do not appear. I can try to look for similarities with the problem folder names and filenames if anyone wants to point me in the right direction.

Hey, One question to all with the problem.
Is your Subsonic server a upgrade with all the old settings (user account etc.) and information or are these clean installs?
I had some problems with the new way that the playlists are saved and loaded. One playlist did not want to be removed and I had to fiddle with it for some time to remove it.
I removed the old m3u file and deleted it via the web GUI but it took some tries before it was removed.
Maybe some problem with the old stuff in the database?

Same problem on my side. I have made a clean install of an actual downloadable version of Subsonic server to Windows 2008 R2. I have scanned the folders and have seen them perfectly:

album
sampler
rock
pop

after this i have moved some sub-directories of "album" into new sub-folders of "album", after this it disappears:

sampler
rock
pop

i have cleand up the database, removed some sub-folders, rescanned, no change:

sampler
rock
pop

then i have made a copy of directory "album" to "albums", afther this album appears again without rescan:

album
sampler
rock
pop
albums

i have deleted albums and all is OK.

But:

I have added some sub-folders (fith mp3 files) into "album" and they appear at the player immediateley. Then i have added some sub-folders into "sampler", and they do not appear there.
Why the new sub-folders appear in "albums" and not in "sampler"?

I have installed 4.7 on two servers and I'm experiencing the same problem on both.

When i add a new album to an artist folder (or a new artist overall) I rescan the media folders, but they never show. I tried deleting the media folder and re-adding it, cleaning up the database, and have tried re-scaning the media folder several times. Nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My issue is solved. I found this in another thread:

Uncheck the media folders. SAVE

Scan

Clean db

Rescan with NO folders selected.

Clean db again

Recheck folders, save and then rescan.

After you unchecj the folders you need to rescan so the db sees there is nothing there, then clean the db to drop old entries. This wipes the slate clean and you shouldn't see any stats on the left. Once done, just recheck the folders and rescan.

I tried to delete the lucene and lucene2-folders without success, but this procedure mentioned earlier in this thread helped me with my indexing problems.

I've used subsonic for several years with no problems, but indexing problems started appearing sometime earlier this year. My installation was upgraded from 4.7.

This makes me mad. Excellent piece of software until you spend hours cleaning/wiping/cleaning/wiping/rinsing/repeating and still can't show up all folders.

Nothing works. Not even wiping folder as in previous comment.

However, if I add a folder path manually, works fine...

I am hoping that the underlying DB gets updated some time soon as it was reported having these problems since 2008.
