I definitely like the solution for song-lyrics!

I like that you keep adding possibilities to customize displaying of albums etc.

I would recommend an additional feature for the customized views: For intance most of the time i want to view albums sorted by year, for that it is great to have this 'standard'-setting in the personal settings tab. But sometimes i want to see the albums sorted alphabetical. But i think it is very annoying to go to the personal settings and change the settings, just to view it alphabetical one time, and after that go back to the personal settings and change it back to 'sort by year'. I would propose additional buttons, in my example in the albumlisting, to change the sorting just by clicking it. I think this could be used for every kind of view-customization (number of grids-albums etc.).

Similar to that are the settings related to music-cabinet-features ('Artist radio, number of songs', etc.). Sometimes i want a very short artist-radio-playlist with only lets say 15 songs. Another time i want a playlist with 50 or more songs. It is annoying to change the setting for this feature in the options-menue everytime i want another number of songs. (I know, i could use a small number as standard-setting and then click 'add artist radio' multiple times to get the wanted number of songs. The problem is that the possibility of duplicate songs is high when using this procedure.) So here it would also be great to have the possibility to give the number of wanted songs when clicking 'artist radio', maybe with a dropdown box or something like that.

To force a full scan of your library, you must delete and re-add appropriate media folders to have lyrics picked up. Alternatively, (since removing media folders is very slow), you could run this SQL command: update library.file set size = -1 and then force a scan of your library to have all files fully scanned again.

@hakko: I would like some additional information on this. Specifically - which folders need to be deleted then re-added? Also, what are the steps to run the SQL command in Linux (Ubuntu 12.10)? Do I need to CD to to a specific directory first? Do I need to add any prefixes to the command? etc... I am not very well versed on running SQL commands.

Thank you in advance for your help.

You could either delete all Media folders (from the Subsonic settings) that you know contains files with lyrics, and wait until your library has been scanned (this could take a little while depending on your library size). Then add the same Media folders again and scan your library to have everything picked up.

Or, you could run the command psql -U postgres -d musiccabinet (I don't know the full path to the psql command) in a terminal. Enter the password for the postgres user, and then enter the command update library.file set size = -1; on the prompt that appears. After it has finished, press Ctrl+D to exit psql and then scan your library from the Subsonic web interface, and it'll re-read all media files.

I guess it's quite rare to have embedded lyrics, so if you don't have it yet, the steps above are unnecessary.

I'm currently working on getting embedded lyrics for my 60k+ library through an external program. It'll take some work but I believe it is a good idea to store lyrics contained in the media file. I've made it to letter L so far.

@hakko: I noticed that I no longer have Last.FM descriptions for most of the bands in my library. After doing some research I found out that Last.FM changed their API key about 3 weeks ago. There is an add-on available for Songbird named MashTape that fetches band information, lyrics, videos, etc, and it recently stopped retrieving Last.FM data too. The cause for this ended up being the change to the Last.FM API key referenced earlier, so I am assuming the same thing is happening with MusicCabinet. From what I understand it should not be difficult to resolve the issue.

I found a bug today in how artists are chosen for being updated from last.fm. I've fixed that and I'll put up a new release later tonight. Hopefully, it's related/fixes your problem.

I think that the last.fm API key update only applies to applications who're using the example API key, instead of individual keys. As a matter of fact, MusicCabinet still uses your API key, so it should be OK.
