Edit

And by I can confirm I mean it depends on the use case...

My car stops the music when I turn it off, my BT speakers do not...

Can you verify that the same things happen with DSub? Or different behavior?

I'll have to install the version from github, but I can't test until tomorrow.

Edit:

Meh just bought the app I'll test tomorrow. Already liking the notification shade controls.

I just tested in my 2013 Mazda CX-5 when I am playing music then turn the car off the music pauses with subsonic but not dsub. I have a set of BT speakers; when I turn them off the music keeps playing via the external speaker, this happens with both Subsonic and Dsub. Bluetooth Playback stops when speakers are disconnected with Apollo (built in CM10 Music application).

can you add the Bluetooth data (artist information) to the next release?

Hi and thanks for providing some variety on the client side in the Android world. I just today received my A2DP bluetooth stereo receiver dongle and have the same problem as described some posts above about playback continuing on phone speakers after BT disconnect. Although it is kinda weird, sometimes it will restart the song, sometimes go to the first song in the playlist. In a perfect world I would like the android client to both start/stop on connect/disconnect events to a specific bluetooth device. Hope you can add that to the roadmap sometime :)

Honestly I think I am just going to put off the bluetooth stuff until the next release. I have fixed a large number of crashes people are experiencing so I want to get this out as soon as I can.

Hello,

I've been using DSub for a few weeks now. Like everything about it, but, have a request. Is it possible to have an option to display filenames for songs instead of ID3 attributes? I have about 3.5 TB of music of which over 90% has missing/incomplete/incorrect ID3 data. There is no way I can fix them.

I used to use the Subsonic Android client and the pre-ad version displayed filenames (helped with sorting the songs in an album too). Since then, I've upgraded to MadSonic's latest builds (which allows for sorting by folder/file names). Using a web browser, the songs use file names and are sorted correctly, but, in DSub, all I see when I browse into any album are alphabetized song titles in a jumbled order.

Please let me know if this feature can be added to DSub. Love the app and am glad I bought it.

Thanks,
MediocreFred.

If your folder structure & file names are accurate why not use something like Tag & Rename http://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm to tag your MP3s from them? Check out the "Get Tags from Filename" tab in that app. It's one solution anyway - more and more players seem to rely on good ID3 tags rather than file and folder names.

In other news, I got the latest update and also love the UI changes. The now playing screen is slick! Glad to see those "glass" buttons go. Keep up the good work.

Are you sure they are being displayed in a random jumble? For example in one album I have which don't have any id3 tags but are named 01 song, 02 song, etc the songs that are sent to DSub have the 01, 02 stripped out but are still in alphabetical order as they appeared to the Subsonic server, just not as appear to me in the client.

I wish my folders and files were organized well enough to use automated ID3-populating tools. The folder structure is fairly meaningless (from an ID3 cataloging point of view) and varies in depth from 1 to 8 or 9 levels. In some cases, the levels denote the names of the people that curated the albums, in other cases, the folder names denote various ways of grouping the albums. There is absolutely no consistency in how the folders are named or structured. Ideally, yes, I would like to clean it all up, but, have nowhere near the time required for that.

At home, I use MediaMonkey - which lets me sort and play either by files/folders or by ID3-indexed data. MediaMonkey indexes using both, ID3 tags as well as file names - and this makes the Search feature very useful - granted, I get bogus results sometimes, but, I can still find things. Yes, most players are going the ID3 way - and nothing wrong with that; I just hope that at least a few good options like MediaMonkey and MadSonic remain that offer this flexibility/option.

MadEvil (the creator of MadSonic) very graciously (and quickly) added a "filesystem sort" option to MadSonic and this lets me browse using names of folders and files - just like in pre-4.7 Subsonic. I am not sure if the indexer in MadSonic crawls in names of folders and files in addition to ID3 tags... haven't had the time to test this out. But, the ability to browse by folder and filenames is very useful.

I hope this ability can be implemented in DSub as well.

Thanks in anticipation...

The holo background turns to black while scrolling, and on the home tab it doesn't come back when you lift your finger off the screen...

Since most of the songs in my library have garbage in the ID3 tags (including the title attribute - which is sometimes the name of the artist - yes, in every song of the album), it does appear jumbled in DSub. For some reason, it's not even alphabetically jumbled... <shrugs>... don't know why.

Hey guys, posting here for the first time in hopes of finding some help with an issue I've been having. Lately I upgraded to a 2012 Prius (Model Three, if that helps identify the stereo + issue at all) and am having an issue with the Bluetooth stereo controls. I'm running Cyanogen Mod 7, with Android version 2.3.7. (Droid HTC Incredible)

My phone syncs and plays with no problems. When I use the "next track" or "previous track" controls on the steering wheel however, the phone almost seems to disconnect from BT. I've looked at my phone during this, and noticed that the audio tracker continues as if it's still playing music. (But no music is coming out of the car or phone speakers) If I hold the previous or next buttons for a bit to pause / unpause, then it seems to reconnect. (Continuing wherever the music progressed to, not where it cut off at)

I'd also like to note that I've experienced this in both the native Subsonic client as well as DSub. When running the native Android music app or Poweramp, steering wheel track controls seem to work just fine. (Leading me to believe it's an issue with Subsonic, as opposed to my car or my phone's OS + handling of Bluetooth controls)

Aside from that single issue though, loving use of DSub. I especially can't wait for the ID3 Tags over bluetooth. Figured I'd post here to give some praise, as well as see if anybody has encountered a similar issue before. (Mayhaps there's a setting in the car stereo or bluetooth that I simply missed?) Thanks for your time, everyone.

I was using the dsub app but when I updated my rom the app stopped working. For test purposes I've installed subsonic and have the same issue. Here's my situation:

Samsung Galaxy S2
Rooted
Clean install of jellybam 20121107 (http://www.igio90.net/device/samsung-galaxy-s2-i9100/)

When I install subsonic and/or dsub, it crashes immediately. No error nothing.

Anyone any idea what might be wrong or how to find out?

Might be a problem with the rom you're using. I'm using a custom JB rom on my SIII without any problems using the Madsonic apk.

You can try the Madsonic apk without removing any other SS apk. If you have the same issue with the Madsonic apk, then you'll have to try moving back to a stock rom or other custom rom to see if that's the issue.

Also, you may want to try clearing the cache for both apps and see if it still crashes.
