[Feature Request] file-related browsing ui improvements

Postby PoGo » Wed Nov 07, 2012 10:15 pm

Hello,

I just installed this Mod, which is IMHO the best mod I ever tried, thank you hakko !
Last.fm implementation is just perfect.

Yet, I have a feature request... In my library I have a lot of compilations including a lot of various artists, this is why I organized it through a simple folder classification system :
Code: Select all
<Artist Name>/<Year> - <Album Name>/*.mp3

With Subsonic the artist's list appears clean but by browsing it with the tags, it end up with a huge and ugly list of artists mostly related to only one track in a single compilation.

I was glad to find out that the library can still be file-related browsed, but with MusicCabinet all cool ui is gone : no A-Z quick access, no cover displayed... and of course no feature from this mod.

I was just wondering if it was possible to get this ui back : with the original subsonic style + improvements coming from MusicCabinet.
In that case the Artist list could be directly file-based OR generated from the scanned tag, and leave the choice to the user.

Thank you in advance for your feedback :)

Hi! I'm glad you like the last.fm additions.

The fact that your compilation albums appear in the left frame as single artists makes me believe that you're not using the "Album artist" tag. Is that correct?

Here's a thread to explain why that tag is so important: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10454

Wow, I guess that I totally missed this thread.

I tried this solution and it's working like a charm, thank you again !
