I've never gotten my address to work. Not before I donated and got a license, or now. I tried various names, none will redirect to my server's address. It just times out, I never actually make it anywhere.
I'd like to sort this out, the nice address would be easier for my family to use. Right now I'm using DynDNS.
Go to http://Canyouseeme.org and test the port you assigned to Subsonic to determinr if it is open.
Also open the "About" screen and click on "donation" at the end of the sentence to verify that your license information is entered. If you entered the key the screen should show your email address and the date you licensed the program.
The address will say "responded successfully" in the Subsonic interface. It tries taking me to http://198.105.251.46:8180/subsonic/ and nothing happens. That is not my IP address.
I tried different browsers on desktop and phone/tablet, same thing.
Out of curiosity I tried using 3G, it works. It seems I cannot reach it from within my LAN. I'd like to access from wherever, using the nice address. What can I do?
When you checked to see if your port is working: http://db.tt/nBS8yAb5 it showed a different ip address than what is appearing in the address bar in your browser shot.
Yes. That's what I've been saying, but I don't know the reason.
Whatever name I choose in Subsonic, redirects to my IP address when accessed outside the network. When on the LAN, it redirects to that other address. I cannot reach the server, anywhere across the house.
Well how can you have two different ip addresses? Only you can answer that. Your ISP issues you an external address for your internet connection. If you have more than one, then you need to sort that out through whatever hardware you have on your network that would be controlling multiple external ip addresses. Most home users typically only have one public address. If you go to Canyouseeme.org and test your subsonic port, then it should show the external address that you should also be ble to identify in your router.
If you send me a pm with both complete addresses and the port number you use for SS, and the vanity name. I can test all 3 for you to see what's responding and what's not.
I have seen instances like this where a router reboot cured everything. It might be worth trying.
