vob files not being displayed

I have subsonic configured to play music and movies. I have 3 different video folders: Videos, Portable Movies, and Movies.

Videos are just small clips (mpeg, wma, etc...). This is fine.
Portable Movies are compressed versions of full movies. This is fine.
Movies is full of complete DVDs, structured as: MovieName/Video_TS/*.vob etc...

Subsonic will not display the VOB files. I have the vob files listed in the videos Mask section, but still do not see anything. If I put a .vob file in the Videos Directory, Subsonic can "see" that.

What am I missing? I am on Ubuntu 12.10 and Subsonic 4.7 stock.

I should also note that I also have BluRay files (.m2ts) in the Movies directory. Subsonic is finding those just fine.

so now just ONE of the Movie directories is showing .vob files on the webpage.

I've checked permissions, all directories and files are readable by all.

Very confusing. I don't see any errors in the log files either. I may do a complete uninstall/reinstall just to be sure it's not a weird configuration issue.

What if you rename one of the missing .vob files (to ___newname___.vob) and scan again? Just a guess

I will give that a try tonight after work.

Strangely, I had this working a few installs back, but had to rebuild my server. since then, I hadn't really been using the video streaming and thus didn't notice it no longer working.

so I copied and renamed a .VOB file in one of the movie's directories and all the VOB's in that directory now show up. Now what?

That's what I expected, based on other reports on the forum on how the 4.7 media scanner (doesn't) work.

You could try a command like this to have all your files in the current directory (including subdirectories) marked as being updated:

find . -exec touch {} \;

If you run it in your top directory containing .VOB files and then scan again, it might help. Might. Run it on your own risk.

I should have thought of that after seeing the effects of adding a new file. I'll give that a shot when I get home. Unfortunately, access to my home server is blocked by work. Might be time to migrate to an externally hosted server

ran the command on all the movie files. everything is now good... other than the quality of my transcoding. I'll fix that later I guess

You can convert vob file, Google search one vob converter for example:Bros vob converter can help you.

find . -exec touch {} \;

I have 7tb of movies of which probably half are vob rips
