Last.fm scrobbling not working on 4.7

Since installing 4.7, scrobbling has stopped working.

Will be happy to provide whatever logs are necessary if I can be instructed where to find them and what to look for.

There's a file called subsonic.log. You haven't told what platform you're on but on Windows for example it's found in C:/subsonic.

According to the source code, it looks like you should get output like this if scrobbling fails: "Failed to scrobble song"

I'm not using 4.7 though so I don't know how it behaves in detail.

Also, if you listen to music from an app, it's the responsibility of the app to scrobble. If you listen via the Subsonic app in jukebox mode, it doesn't seem to scrobble for some reason.

Now it's time for me to openly admit that this was my f***up:

Sitting right there in the logs is "Failed to scrobble song 'Ambition as a Hellridah' at Last.fm. Wrong username or password."

I didn't even TRY to check the password. And to think that I once worked on a helpdesk.

In my defense, I didn't change anything... but something must have gotten jacked up in the update to 4.7... still though, some basic troubleshooting should have been able to figure that one out.

My scrobblings in web are not working either. I just get "Succesfully registered now playing. So the "now playing" shows up in last.fm profile, but after the song has played, it doesn't get submitted...

EDIT: Using openSUSE 12.1 Linux, clean subsonic standalone installation. This happens on normal Web client and MiniSub. The tracks never get submitted... Official Android app works just fine.

It's worth to mention that Sindre is still running the old outdated scrobbling API (which requires saving everyone's last.fm password in clear text, which is bad security practice).

I've updated to the new scrobbling API in MusicCabinet, so that passwords stay a secret between your users and last.fm, and are never stored locally. I've also built it so that songs aren't scrobbled until they've played 80% of their length (instead of immediately, like they used to).

Feel free to use this in the main trunk, it's all open source.

I am having a similar issue with Subsonic 4.7 and Last.fm. Subsonic will correctly register when I am listening to a track on my Last.fm profile ("now playing"), but upon track completion, the track is not registered as played on Last.fm, hence no record of me listening to the track. I tried to install MusicCabinet, but the instructions were difficult to find for Ubuntu, and I don't think I installed it properly. Any way Last.fm scrobbling can be saved without further installing anything? I've attempted updating to Java 7 and restarting the Subsonic service multiple times. Here is some info - thanks!

Nevermind, this is suddenly working again. My Android client was able to scrobble, and now I am able to scrobble via the web after using the Android client. Thanks!
