I'm not real good at reading log files, but if you can tell us what OS you are using we might be able to help.

Windows 7 x64 SP1
I'm not really sure what the log is saying but looks like some kind of database issue

Did it work before or is this a clean install?

On Windows you need to delete the C:\Subsonic folder before doing the reinstall to clear the old database.

Ignore my last question...I suppose my reading skills are not that good :(
What you can try is reinstall subsonic and when it asks you for the SQL Server name, use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost.

Let me know the outcome..

I just had the same thing happen to me last night. I was fiddling around with a new Firewall and router combo. When I got it up and running and was able to get to the outside world. The service ran for about an hour and kaboom. I read this post and and another one which included Sindre from 2005 and uninstalling and deleting the c:\subsonic folder seems to have solved it each time.

Windows 7 32Bit
The error that I see from the log is this...

2011-07-13 03:00:00,853] ERROR SearchService - Failed to create search index.
org.springframework.jdbc.CannotGetJdbcConnectionException: Could not get JDBC Connection; nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: File input/output error: java.io.IOException: org.hsqldb.HsqlException: Unexpected token:

I will update if the reinstall works.

The Reinstall worked perfectly. Very odd. I did notice that their was a Java update yesterday. Could that have caused an issue? I wonder if there were several people with problems yesterday.

so i followed the advice here and deleted my subsonic directory ( actually renamed it so i still have the prior contents). but how do i keep my prior settings? because as of now i have lost all settings including evidence of prior donation. is there a specific file or set of file i can delete from my old directory so that i can keep my old settings but get rid of the 503 issue?

Hi everybody, I've just stumbled into the same problem.

I'm running subsonic 4.7.beta3.deb on raspian on the raspberry pi. Subsonic has been streaming perfectly for the last week or so, with multiple phones and computers. Then, out shopping this morning, it started to struggle streaming, skipping a little.

I returned home and have found that 'top' shows that java (what my subsonic service runs under) is running at 90+%, making subsonic fail. I can't even connect through a browser, on the pi or elsewhere.

I've just tried replaced (reinstalled) 4.7.beta3.deb with 4.7.beta3.deb but it has made no difference.

Subsonic is running, but I am instantly getting the error 503 thing.

Was about to install subsonic on a raspberry pi for a small record label so they could stream some stuff, but this is a set back! Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.

I just went through this and it appears to be a corrupt database problem, specifically the subsonic.data database. I renamed the /var/subsonic/ folder and reinstalled subsonic (4.7). After the install I pulled the newly created /var/subsonic/db/ directory into the old, re-named, subsonic directory and again did the directory name switcheroo. The service started but I had lost ALL my user and media data. I then tried swapping out the individual database files to see if I could get any of it back but no luck. All the files transferred ok except the subsonic.data database, that again gave mt the 503 error and apparently has all the data I was hoping to retrieve (as the name would suggest). If anyone has info on retrieving the data in that database I'd be very grateful.
