Postby columbiabbs » Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:35 pm

Hi Guys I want to move my system from a window to linux. All is working on the Linux system ok but now I have a problem moving my DB folder to the Linux machine. Subsonic is locked on the Linux machine, how
do I unlock it and move the folder to the Linux system.
Thanks for your input.

Are you familiar with superuser/administration commands? I'm a Linux amateur, what is your skill level? Are you comfortable with the command line? What distro of Linux are you using. I really only know Ubuntu.

'sudo nautilus' will bring up a gui file explorer with su rights. I am assuming that there is no issue mounting your windows hdd. You should be able to navigate to where the db is and move it to where you want.

You could also look into chmod commands and set the file permissions.

'sudo gedit filename' will open the file in gedit with superuser permissions. I mainly use the command line, the mv command (move) with sudo would have worked too, if a gui is unavailable.

Glad I could help.
