How to install Subsonic in an ISPConfig website

Postby mroppolo » Sat Dec 15, 2012 8:15 pm

Hello all -

I have searched for a solution and cannot locate anything helpful.

I would like to create a music streaming website on my ISPConfig server using Subsonic. I cannot use http://localhost:4040. Instead, my URL will need to look like http://mstream.mysite.com

I thought installing Tomcat6 and unzipping the standalone files into the new website's directory would work, but no joy.

I believe the web server is looking for a start page (something similar to index.html but in a Java format). When I go to the website, I receive a 403 Forbidden error.

Any ideas ?

Thanks !!

Don't unzip the file.

Install tomcat 6.

Put the subsonic.war file in the webapps directory.

Restart the Tomcat service.

Tomcat will then deploy the war file as it needs to.

Watch /var/subsonic/subsonic.log to see if it starts up correctly.

Then access it via http://Your.Host.Name/subsonic

Interesting, I did copy the war file to webapps. I restarted Tomcat and checked the logs. Nothing obviously wrong (no errors), so I think it may be running, but http://mywebsite.com/subsonic still doesn't render anything.

The problem may be I need to get ISPConfig to point the website files in /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/subsonic. The ISPConfig website directory is located in /var/www/clients/client1/web3/web.

Under ../webapps/subsonic, what file is the index page for the site ? Maybe I can create a symbolic link ?

Here's a recap of the issue:
http://mywebsite.com/subsonic still doesn't render anything. I believe the problem may be getting the website located in /var/www/clients/client1/web3/web to point to the Subsonic files located in /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/subsonic.

Can someone tell me what file is the site landing page ? Perhaps it will work if I can create a symbolic link from the website to the Subsonic files.

Thanks !
