Kindle Fire Client

Postby smilerz » Tue Dec 25, 2012 2:44 pm

I just purchased the SubSonic app from the Kindle App Store, but it doesn't seem to support video playback. When I attempt to play a move it redirects to a web page that requires flash, which is no longer supported on the Fire.

Is there an alternative method to get video playback to work?

I'm capable of Googling, thanks.

That's the way that it used to work.

Adobe is no longer supporting Flash on Android devices so Amazon didn't put it into their latest gen devices.

Yeah.. I bought 2 kindle fires for xmas presents and was setting them up and I noticed that. I think that is a pretty shitty thing that it wasn't mentioned with the lastest Kindle Fire...
Bleh.. You can try to sideload the flash.. I did that but had to download another browser for it to work.

The subsonic app is rendering the web page - how does using a different browser work?

I also need this to be relatively easy - the Fires are my kids. They won't want to follow a bunch of steps to watch a movie.

Is there any way to make back end server changes so that the video is transcoded to something other than FLV that the Kindle Fire can display?

Because the browser that came with didn't have an option for flash.. but now that I think about it, I don't know if I checked after loading dolphin. GF lives in another town.. so will have to ask her tonight when I see her.

I will get back to you on this issue as soon as I can. I think it is really crappy that they made this change and still haven't updated their marketing to that fact.
