Possible to shuffle by music folder or genre?

The random albums not being able to click play all is a different issue from the one the other user was reporting. Someone just reported the issue you are having the other day and I will look at it. I guess I never try to play all random albums. I usually use the shuffle all function from the main screen or I go down to a random album and play a single album and both those work.

As for the second issue I haven't heard anyone else getting the set of extra options intermittently. Are you sure you are pressing the same shuffle icon on the same tab on all devices. For example pressing shuffle on the now playing tab won't bring up the menu it just shuffles the now playing list. Try pressing the shuffle icon on the first tab in Dsub to see if you only get the menu on some.

That is EXACTLY what I was looking for, and the ability to shuffle based on Genre, with Year is phenomenal, and much better than the way Audiogalaxy shuffles by Genre. Since all my tracks are tagged by both genre and year, this will work very well.

I just set up DSub and added my music folders. How do I put my entire collection on shuffle mode? I am talking about music in multiple folders. I use Audiogalaxy and in that app, under playlist, it gives you the option to shuffle entire collection. I hope DSsub can do this, so I can leave Audiogalaxy a happy man. Thanks!

Just select All folders before shuffling and it will pull the random songs from everything on the server.

I'm now having problems using the shuffle button on the home tab. I can still select years to shuffle by but if I want the old behaviour of "20 random songs" by not filling in the year or genre fields, the playlist never loads.

In my subsonic log I see: [1/18/13 3:57:32 PM EST] WARN RESTFilter Error in REST API: For input string: ""

Pretty sure this was working before. This is happening in 3.6.9 and I upgraded to 3.6.10 where it is also happening. Thanks.

While I don't know why it is happening I can verify that it is behaving retarded sometimes. I will try to get a fix out for this asap.

DSub has suddenly started crashing every time I use it. It locks up my smartphone and I have to shut it off and back on. I've only been using it for about a week. I am using it on a Samsung Galaxy Note II, using the Jellybean version of firmware. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Also, the previous app I was using (Audiogalaxy) was able to basically shuffle my entire collection indefinitely, loading more songs from my collection as needed. I notice DSub has you set how many songs you want loaded into the shuffle playlist. I drive on long road trips. Any chance of having an option of this kind of shuffle mode? Thanks!

The way the stock subsonic app used to work (and dsub also though I have not tested this recently...maybe the dev can confirm) is when you hit shuffle from the home tab, it would pull 20 random songs from your collection. Then when it got near the end of the playlist it would append another 20 random songs...and so on. If you think about it, truly shuffling your collection will generate an _enormous_ playlist (in my case around 25,000 songs) and these apps don't seem to perform well with large-ish playlists.

[edit]: It looks like what it does now is constantly add songs to the playlist one at a time so when it moves on to the second song in the playlist, it appends song #21, etc. It should work pretty much how you want...

1) I'm most certainly not or I would have fixed it. Is it only happening when you do certain things or just as soon as you open up the app?
2) Yah when you shuffle it will just continually add to the list as you get further in the list (I think it starts adding at like song 5?) to try to keep the size of the list the same. Isn't that basically the same thing?
