Lossless Streaming on Home Network

Postby jsonnabend » Thu Jan 03, 2013 8:45 pm

Hi all. I've looked through the forums but can't find an answer to this question.

I have my library ripped to WMA Lossless. For streaming to my phone, I transcode to MP3 without problems. I'd like to be able to stream from SubSonic across (i.e., inside) my home network without transcoding, that is, streaming the original WMAL file. Is that possible?

TIA

I wonder about the same thong, but my files are in FLAC.

I was actually playing around with this the other day. DSub supports flac (and I presume the default Android app does too) so to stream all you need to do is remove 'flac' from the "convert from" box under Settings > Transcoder. The only issue, however, is the web interface doesn't support streaming flac so it won't work streaming from the website. I can't speak for WMAL so you may want to test it to see what works. My guess is none of the apps or the web interface support it...
