You can set this number in the app settings.

keith wrote:First off thanks so much for this app. I use it everyday and its my favorite subsonic frontend.

A few things I've noticed:

I started using the playback widget which is great but when I'm using it for playback the screen lock widget does not come up until I load the actual sub app.

I use shuffle always for playback and sometimes its buggy. When the playlist finishes, I flip to main screen and hit shuffle and ok again to load a new list and it sometimes doesn't load anything. I have to exit the app and reload it, sometimes twice for it to load new tracks.

Exit doesn't work when no music is playing. It freezes then refreshes same screen. I have to click off the app, load the recently accessed apps list and swipe it off. If I click it when music is playing it'll stop and exit via crash dsub has stopped' .

Also anyway to chose more songs to add to shuffle? Id like to queue up 30 instead of the 10 it does.

phone is Galaxy Nexus on VZW running 4.1.1 stock rooted.

Thanks! Keep it up. Everyone who uses my subsonic has bought your app too. :)

I'll be happy to test any apks or give you more info if needed.

You probably just needed to wait longer. Sometimes it takes a really long time. I need to fix it so it's keeping a buffer in the background though. That is primarily why it looks like it is slower. I think I already fixed the exit issue for the next release.

Checking in for the first time in a while. Looks like it's been busy around here. :)

Any word on a possible Gain setting in the EQ for those needing a boost in headphone jack output?

Thanks.

I keep looking at it and I'm not really sure if there is any way for an app to play above 100% volume which it already is.

1) If you use the existing EQ and set all of the sliders to max does the sound level go up? If so I can probably just make a slider which will do that with one move instead of requiring you to do them all manually. If it doesn't then that pretty much covers all the API's for changing volume that I'm aware of.
2) Do you use a separate DSP manager and are able to make it play louder that way? And if so does it require root to it?

Thanks for checking. Answers:

1. Yes, the level definitely rises if all EQ sliders are set to full. I worry, though, that not all frequencies "between" the sliders will be boosted equally. That would leave some freqs being boosted more than other if the EQ is a standard "peaking" type.

2. Yes, there are volume boosters in the Market that definitely boost the volume higher when it's already set at 100%. However, those apps get disabled whenever an app has a built-in EQ. So if all else fails, is there a way to "hide" the EQ from the system so these apps would work? They work in, say, Pandora which doesn't have its own EQ. And they do not require root.

EDIT: An XDA dev named Dalingrin made an app for the Android-based Nook Color that allowed for a global system gain to be boosted. I can ask him how he did it if that would be helpful.

My understanding is that pretty much all the apps for volume boosting have broken with the JB 4.2 update so it seems getting this to work for everyone is going to be pretty iffy at this point...

Alright I'll have to look into it some more. I'm pretty sure that the frequencies are ranges that should together include everything. I'm not positive on that so I can try doing it and see if anyone notices a difference. And your right for some reason currently with the EQ disabled it is not being truly disabled. I will have to fix that so you can choose to use your own external EQ since most of those are far superior to anything I am going to be able to put together with such limited time.

Also, what is a (preferably free) EQ app I can use to test to make sure that DSub is no longer blocking third party EQ's?

"Speaker Boost" is a small free app that boosts both the internal speaker and headphone jack. It makes a significant difference when used with Pandora and the volume already at 100%.

I need to correct myself when I said that turning volume up to 100% and increasing the DSub EQ makes things louder. I was checking that out this morning and it changes the sound, but not sure if it makes it "louder." Speaker Boost apparently works differently.

Just fyi, speaker boost is an example of one of the apps which does not work on 4.2.

Yeah, I've heard that even though I don't have a 4.2 device. Hopefully an in-app solution will work.

I'm hoping that just means that they refined the permissions so external apps can't but you can boost the sound of your own app. I'll do some digging.

Steps to reproduce the shuffle problem:

After current playlist is done and music is stopped, i click on 'home' and then 'shuffle' then 'ok'.
After waiting a few minutes, I click back into playing, click 'trash' and then back into home, then shuffle and ok again.
After waiting a few minutes, I close out SubSonic. Since it doesn't exit, I have to swipe it away.

(And when I say a few minutes, I have waited 20 mins or longer. I hit shuffle for a playlist last night and I still don't have one..)

I reopen Subsonic, click into playing. Observe no playlist. Click back into home, and click on Shuffle, then ok. After about 20 seconds it populates a playlist.

This is reproducible, everytime.

Galaxy Nexus on VZW, running 4.1.2.

Alright it is probably screwing up while trying to refill the shuffle buffer. Is there any way that you can get be a logcat of when it's not properly refreshing? I can't get it to happen on my test devices so I can't debug it directly.

Download something like alogcat, Make sure it is running, reproduce the problem on DSub, the use alogcat to email me the captured logs. Since it's a problem of nothing ever happening I would imagine you will want to wait as long as it normally would have taken if it was working (think you said 20 seconds in the cases where it worked?).
