Pause 10-12 seconds into song

Postby jakev383 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 3:03 am

I have an issue where when I begin to play a list of songs (usually just select an artist and play all), it begins to play the first song but then pauses 10-12 seconds into the song for roughly 1/2 to 1 full second and then begins to play the rest of the song as normal. I am on a local network, so bandwidth is not an issue. I'm also not re-coding when on the local network. This is using DSub. I changed to the subsonic android app, and experienced the same behavior. I tested against the subsonic demo server, and the subsonic app begins to play and then after 10-12 seconds jumps back to the start of the song and plays normally.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S3 running Jelly Bean 4.1.1. If there is other information required please let me know. If there's some diag information that can help, let me know how to collect it and I will do so. I'm not rooted.

Now that this is out of the way - EXCELLENT program. I did purchase the server license to help support the project. Thanks for all you do!

In dsub, the pause is by design...the alternative is that it would jump back to the beginning of the song.

[edit]: There is a whole thread about this issue in the dsub forum.

Just a quick summary: Both Subsonic and DSub are trying to stream for a file as it is being downloaded to. In older versions of Android this was fine, but in later versions (4.1+?) it basically reads the file when you first start playing. It then thinks it is reaching the end of the file when it reaches the point you had downloaded to when it started. Or in other words it started playing when about 10-12 seconds worth of the song were done downloading, and Android thought that's all there was to the file. I still can't figure out what I can do to fix this unfortunately.
