Unable to change port in 4.7

Postby takirb » Thu Jan 24, 2013 7:22 pm

I recently upgraded my Linux box from Mint 10 to Mint 13, and went ahead and installed SS 4.7 vs my previous install of 4.6. However, i can't get the port # to change from 4040. I've edited the /etc/default/subsonic file with gedit and changed to --port=4041, as well as tried changing --http-port=4041. Is there somewhere else i need to make this change at? I've stopped/restarted the subsonic service after every change, and rebooted the whole system a few times as well.

I also lost all my saved playlists. I used the Linux Mint backup tool, but when i tried restoring SS originally it said it couldn't find the libraries/files. I still have the playlist files/names from my file backup as they were saved in a folder called Playlists, but when i try importing them it says they don't contain any songs. Aside from starting from scratch on rebuilding playlists, is there a trick to upgrading SS that i'm missing?

Cannot help with the port question (wrong os for me) however regarding the playlists have you allowed SS to finish indexing your media?
If your media is the same location (as far as SS is concerned) your playlists should then import np.

I did the upgrade last night, and checking it now, they still aren't available. I had them saved under /Music/Playlists. If i open the folder on the computer itself, i see the lists/files in the directory (Acoustic.m3u, Rock.m3u, etc), but nothing shows when i click on the sidebar for the folder named Playlists in SS. In 4.6, i always loaded them by using the dropdown in the music player (typically flash) and selecting "Load", then they'd show up in the main applet. I just realized I didn't have m3u as a recognizable format in settings, so i added it, refreshed, and still nothing.

As for the port issue, here's what my /etc/default/subsonic file shows

# This is the configuration file for the Subsonic service
# (/etc/init.d/subsonic)
#
# To change the startup parameters of Subsonic, modify
# the SUBSONIC_ARGS variable below.
#
# Type "subsonic --help" on the command line to read an
# explanation of the different options.
#
# For example, to specify that Subsonic should use port 80 (for http)
# and 443 (for https), and use a Java memory heap size of 200 MB, use
# the following:

SUBSONIC_ARGS="--port=4041 --https-port=4041 --max-memory=200"

#SUBSONIC_ARGS="--max-memory=150"

I just used the terminal to make the port changes also (sudo subsonic --port=4041), then viewed the subsonic_sh.log file and it shows the service is running on port 4041, but i get a ERROR 503 in web browser when trying to pull up 4041. I can still however access it using 4040 :?:

I don't think you're allowed to use the same port number for both http and https. Try making them different and restarting the service.

I've removed the entry for --https, restarted service, and it still pulls up at 4040. I also tried manually importing my m3u playlist files this am before work (now that i've got m3u added as a recognizable format) and it still says there's no music in that directory.

Wondering if i should just go back to 4.6, but i still think i'll be left having to re-create the playlists. I remember having trouble editing the port number on 4.6, and it seemed the only way the changes would acutally "work" was if i changed them in terminal with subsonic --http=4041. That's just not working for me on 4.7
