UltraSonic for Android (1.2.0.7 / 2013/07/20)

Postby archrival » Fri Jan 25, 2013 9:07 am

This application is now available on the Play Store. It has been renamed UltraSonic.

As a continuation of the modifications I made in this thread, I finally decided to pick up development again after not touching it for 6 months. I'm fairly certain others have made their own modifications to the Android client and I'd like to share my latest. Please give this version a try. You probably will need to uninstall before installing this version of the app if you have other versions installed because of differing signing keys.

I have continued on the Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean track with my modifications. Honestly, I like the "Holo" look, it's clean. For my most recent modifications, I have upped the minimum SDK level to 14 which requires Ice Cream Sandwich or greater. I've done this as I don't really want to have to worry about backwards compatibility. I have 6 android devices I'm developing on, 5 of which are Jelly Bean and 1 is Ice Cream Sandwich so it's just easier for me that way. I've also upped the minimum Subsonic REST API to 1.7.0 for similar reasons. If anyone else has a feature that sounds interesting I'll try to implement them as well.

I like where this is headed, but I can't try out the app because it says I need to upgrade my server. I'm using 4.7 with music cabinet

Just installed it. Looks great!

I am wondering why the Jukebox button seems to be greyed out and non-functional. Am I missing something?

Hi,
looks very very awesome! Thank you for your work.

But 1 Issue:
I have https enabled and I am running the subs server on windows. ( I didn't generate a specific certificate, i just ticked the https option).
When I now put in the adress of my subsonic server I get connection errors. (network error).
If I disable https it works like a charm.

How do I / You solve the problem??

Thank you very much for your help.

On the latest CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly (20130130) on my Galaxy Nexus (VZW), if the phone isn't set to Silent mode, whenever I receive any sort of notification sound (text, Talk, etc.) and this version of the Subsonic app is paused, it starts playing again. I'm not sure if this is related to the CM nightly or this app, but I figured I'd mention it in case anyone else has the same issue. Everyone in my office was treated to a healthy dose of Bad Religion at full volume, haha.

I just testd. Same issue as I have with all other variants of the Android app on my Galaxy SIII on Jelly Bean.

The first tracks plays for about 10 - 30 seconds then once the first track completes downloading it immediately jumps to the second track.

I haven't had any of the apps handle the first track properly unde JB.

I am using mp3 > ogg transcoding.

I will test without transcoding later and update if the results are any different, but mp3 > ogg is ideal for mobil use on 3g and I would be willing to donate to anyone who can solve this issue.

Thanks for the hard work.

Odd. I wasn't aware that you were having it skip to the next track..I thought you just had it stutter. If you have DSub still installed want to send me a log? I'm curious what would be causing that.

Could be tied to the media buttons. I have noticed similar behavior which disappears when disabling Media Buttons in settings. Can you check? Preferrably, provide a logcat so I can try to reproduce. I have an Evo 3D which has Evervolv 4.2.1 on it, perhaps it will reproduce similarly. I don't know.

Yeah, the behavior varies a bit depending on variables I haven't totally isolated yet. I'll try to get more precise feedback to you next week when I have a bit more time.

Can you detail the errors you receive? I use a self signed certificate without issue. Perhaps provide a logcat?

That is my mistake. I will post 3.9.9.15 which resolves this issue.

Hmm. 4.7 should provide an appropriate REST API level. I have not used music cabinet though.

I just disabled the Media Button support and sent myself a couple test texts.. It still does it. I'll get the logcat when I leave work. Thanks for the response!

Edit: I rebooted and tested it again.. Seems like it's playing nicely now (with Media Button support disabled). I'll keep you posted.

OK. I will look into what could be causing it. I have a fairly good idea.
