(connect timeout)

Postby burtondogs » Sat Feb 02, 2013 1:23 pm

Hello -

I read thru everything and tried everything, but cannot connect.

trying to connect to 4040.
canyouseeme cannot see me.

Status: Successfully forwarding port 4040
Status: *********** .subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

Any help on what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

Running a VPN? Are any other ports on your computer accessible from the internet? What's your network setup? I guess the next step of troubleshooting is identifying exactly what is between you and the internet, blocking incoming requests. Try finding logs of activity/blocked requests from whatever device you're using. Google searching the model name of the devices you're using to see if other people have had the same issue might also help.

Have you examined your router's manual to determine how to open the port? Often, it takes a hard boot (unplug) of the router after making such a change.

Looks like an odd configuration screen. Try 4040 in all 3 boxes, and hit next, verify it shows 4040, and retry canyouseeme.org. No joy, reboot and try again.

Edit: Also, ensure Subsonic is allowed in McAfee...

I just zoomed in on the pic, and it appears there is a checkbox on the initial config page for UPNP...give that a try too, after checking the box 'Automatically configure' in Settings-Network in Subsonic..

You need to enter 4040 in each of the boxes, not "40".

And in all honesty, I'd see if there was a better DSL modem available if you can't switch to Cable or Fios. Those Westell's have tons of problems.
