All playlists suddenly blank

Postby Jittery Jim » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:09 pm

Why would all of my playlists suddenly show zero songs? They were there one day, now they are gone. I am running 4.7. I migrated my music to a new drive and thought perhaps that was the cause (despite the fact the new drive has the same name and drive letter as the old drive) until I read that the playlists are now part of the Subsonic database? I'm confused. And a bit frustrated. :?

The reason is that your songs are given an internal id in the database, and when you switch to a new computer, the songs get a new id which doesn't match the old one (even though the path is the same). You'd have to export them to .m3u format before switching computers. (I believe this should be done automatically, I don't think storing them in the database like that is a brilliant idea)

Yes it does happen :(
I had a spell of my playlists having the same problem and I think its something to do with the rescan folder (nightly)
I have now changed the schedule to never and rescan manually and haven't had a problem since.
Remember you can export your playlists for safe keeping.

Edit: thanks Hakko for picking up the changed drive bit - its possible that Sindre is using drive ID (which changes) rather then path internally
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Thanks for the info, all. Since I still had m3u copies in my music directory I just deleted all the (0) playlists and imported then back in. Only a couple failed due to some music reorg I had done, but I can live with that. Thanks again.
