Are the folders on the win 7 pc setup for shared?
E.g. Can you access them from the network without supplying extra password info?
If so then:-
Ok I am am going to assume that Win 8 is similar enough to vista/Win7 for this to work.
  1. You need to run services.msc (How on Win 8 no idea)
  2. Scroll down the list until you find the subsonic service
  3. Right click on it and select properties
  4. Change to the log-in tab
  5. Change the radio box from system a/c to "this a/c"
  6. Hit the browse button
  7. In the new window type your user name and select check names
  8. Hopefully your user name will then appear so select it
  9. Hit OK to get back to previous window then enter your password in the boxes below.
  10. Hit ok & close program
  11. Now reboot pc

SS now should have the privileges to access the network folders
A better method is to setup a special user a/c (non-admin) especially for SS
Use that information portal known as google for further info on how to that.

And the control panel is red?
Assuming that you did reboot the pc go back to services.msc - highlight subsonic and you should get an option to start the service.
Start it and it should (after a while but no longer then a minute) show as running.
If that doesn't work you may have to wait for someone who is running Win 8 to help

no Its not Red. It Just says (not Running. Auto start) & Server address is blank on the status Tab! Settings Tab port number IS what the tutorial Recommends. I had Subsonic working with my Local account .
