MusicCabinet Settings

Postby Jfass » Wed Feb 06, 2013 2:43 pm

Hello, I am new to MusicCabinet, I have been using Subsonic for years and I love it. After the initial setup there were some settings that I could play with under settings - MusicCabinet. But today (24 hours after install) when I go to the MusicCabinet settings all I have the option to do is update the search index. So I updated the search index thinking that after it is complete the settings would come back up, but this did not happen. after it says it is complete I refresh and the same button is there saying that the search index is ready to be updated.

How do I get to the MusicCabinet settings now?

That sounds like a bug to me.. not the best start I could give you. Do you mind sending the musiccabinet.log file (location found from About view) and restarting the service?

Thanks for taking a look hakko!

Here is the log right after I shut it down and restarted it and did a re-index.

Nothing wrong in there, I guess whatever went wrong must have happened earlier.. after you've restarted the service, what happens if you go to Settings -> MusicCabinet?

The same thing that is there now:

MusicCabinet configuration

MusicCabinet is now ready to scan your library, and fetch meta-data from last.fm. Depending on the size of your library, this could take a while, as they have some regulations on data traffic. A rough estimate is 30 minutes per 10.000 tracks.

You can use the simplified file-based interface to access your music during the import.

These folders will be scanned:

Music2

Then the Button "Update search index now"

How much music do you have? Is this just a small test or have you added your full library? Does the "Play top tracks" work for your most popular artist, for example? (Yes, I am confused)

This is my full library, about 14,000 songs. I am not sure what you mean by "Play top tracks" I do not see that on any of the artist's pages. Just "Play All" "Play Random" and the selector for Play/Enqueue/add and then "edit". I also wasn't able to get the radio to play if that helps at all.

It surely does sound as the last.fm import has failed completely, so that there's no additional information to present per artist. It's supposed to look like this: http://dilerium.se/musiccabinet/images/artistradio.png

I'm confused by this as well from your log file: "In total, 115 last.fm operations done in 0 sec". That shouldn't be possible...

If you go back to Settings -> Media folders, do you have the option to run a Normal scan or a Full scan?

Yes, I have the option to do Offline, Normal, and Full, and I have done all three. Maybe when I get home from work I will uninstall and do a re-install. Do you think that might repair it?

It's worth trying, I'm out of ideas. If you do, please paste the musiccabinet.log file here, hopefully it'll give some clue.

So I uninstalled Subsonic, uninstalled PostgreSQL, re-installed PostgreSQL, and re-installed Subsonic from the MusicCabinet download. Ran through all the setups fine, it took a long time to run through the indexing, so I was expecting it to work but to no avail.

Here is my log:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BypKOEEiMwH4U0duaWtDekluT0E/edit?usp=sharing

I don't know what else to do. Is there a way to get rid of any evidence of Subsonic to start fresh? Maybe that will work? I just really want it to work because what I have so far is pretty awesome and what I see that it can do is even better. Plus with this being such a young project, I can only see it getting better with age!

My guess is that is the problem. Did you change the password after re-installing?

I did, but I thought I had updated it correctly on both ends. I will try it again tomorrow doing the same method of un installing everything.

If you've changed your credentials, you might want to remove the line MusicCabinetJDBCPassword=... from C:\Subsonic\subsonic.properties.

OK, It appears to be working now. Uninstalled PostgreSQL and re-installed with previous password, deleted the line MusicCabinetJDBCPassword=.... and I also changed MusicCabinetRadioMaximumSongLength=0 back to 600. I wonder if the maximum song length was the culprit from the very beginning?

Now I just need to find out why some music isn't showing up when it did for regular Subsonic....

Thanks for all your help!
