Unable to add files with unicode characters

Postby frag24 » Thu Feb 07, 2013 3:43 am

Subsonic Version: 4.7 (build 3132SE) – September 26, 2012 – (Moded by MadEvil)
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_34, Linux (98.3 MB / 160.8 MB)
Hardware Platform: NAS, Synology DS1512+

I was using the build for synology listed above, published here: http://www.eg-blog.de/. I was running into a problem though, where songs with unicode characters in the filepath wouldn't play, they would sit at 0:00, and never begin. So I decided to update my package to see if that would fix the issue, since I was a few commits behind current. However this caused more problems than it was worth, and I downgraded back to the version above. Now however, I am unable to add any artist/song with unicode character to my media library, much less play them.

I see the following error in the log when I add a folder/file with unicode characters:

Code: Select all
[2013-02-06 19:22:09,065] WARN FileUtil - Failed to list children for /volume1/Planet Express/Music/Jill-Decoy Association/[2008] Jill Deco 2/10 - Jill-Decoy Association - ?????????.mp3
[2013-02-06 19:22:09,070] WARN FileUtil - Failed to list children for /volume1/Planet Express/Music/Jill-Decoy Association/[2008] Jill Deco 2/06 - Jill-Decoy Association - ????????????.mp3
[2013-02-06 19:22:09,074] WARN FileUtil - Failed to list children for /volume1/Planet Express/Music/Jill-Decoy Association/[2008] Jill Deco 2/08 - Jill-Decoy Association - ???????????????.mp3

It's clearly not registering the unicode characters properly, and superimposing placeholders, and then being unable to find the file with the placeholders ('?'s above). I had found some other people with this problem, and they had stated that they were able to one or more of the following lines to their subsonic.sh file to able to resolve the problem:

Code: Select all
from: forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3972
LC_CTPYE=$LANG
LANG=$LANG
export LANG=en_US.utf8

However, adding these does not seem to help the situation at all. When I do 'echo $LANG' on the synology I do in fact get a response of "en_US.utf8". I am unable to get this working though. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm just bumping this, I've been looking around, and still haven't come up with any results. I'm still in the same spot.
