Help...Win 7 Machine Sleeps, SubSonic Can't Connect

I have Subsonic installed, setup and working properly.

When the serving PC goes into a sleep / hibernation SubSonic can no longer connect. From an MS Wndows desktop IE displays 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'...

I've been successfully streaming while connected wirelessly to the same network and while using the phones data connection (3G /4G). I've even had some friends connecting and streaming from various other remote locations to SubSonic with thier own accounts I've setup.

All the port forwarding is correct (went through th setup procedures and did the testing with the caniseeyou tool, etc., etc.).

This is a Windows 7 machine patched to the latest releases.
SubSonic donated version.

When using the Android SubSonic app the app tries to connect the 4 times and then displays the error message.

I've checked my adapter settings and they are correct (allow the adapter to wake up machine, etc.)
My previous streaming solution was AudioGalaxy and I did not have this issue, so I know my settings (on the PC work).

Can anyone offer any advice / suggestions other than turning off the power saving on the desktop PC?

Stop the PC from going to sleep.
How can you expect a sleeping PC to serve data when it's passed out and comatose?

go into control panel, click view by (top right), select large icons, then select the icon: Power Options.
change the option to "Always On"

Really, I've had other applications 'wake' the machine up from sleep via the nic intreface just fine in the past. As I stated in my original post, before Audiogalaxy took thier path and shutdown, i didn't have these types of issues.

The Magic Packet Wake applications aren't working (I've downloaded and used the one above plus 3 other ones I've found). I'm just not knowledgeable enough I guess to get this setup correctly.
I have a d-Link DIR-??? (I have to look this up again)
Port forwarding is setup and working for the SubSonic appllication.
Pings are blocked / rejected globally on the router.

I have a Windows 7 PC latest updates.

Magic Packets are allowed with the hardware.
Symantec 360 installed and operating.
SubSonic allowed
I check the activity logs for the symantec product and there is no activity as far as blocking or preventing anything to do with SubSonic or the ports in question.

I know if I send the magic packets to my SubSonic domain (<username>.subsonic.org) they are being sent to the subsonic IP, but are they being forwarded to my computer????

If I send the Magic packets to the IP address assigned by my internet provider that is registered on my router, still nothing happens.

I've tried using port 4040 and 80 in the Magic packet software. I have the correct MAC address for the PC's NIC card entered in the Magic Packet Software.

I'm stumped.

When you have found your router model no. have a look on the dlink forum.
A number of routers do not allow the magic packet to be broadcast but sometimes there are ways around that.
I know my (old) netgear router doesn't unless I flash it with dd-wrt software.

Hmm, that's a possibility. I know they've stopped updating the firmware for it. I'll check. Yes I've fone the wrt flashing on some of my old linksys routers. I have a homebound person right now and need to keep things relatively stable. I'll figure something out.

You really should leave the computer running without sleeping. It would be frustrating to have delays when attempting to connect to Subsonic. If you are concerned about power consumption, you shouldn't. If the computer is sitting there idle, it really is not going to use that much energy. Have the screen go blank in 2 minutes and the HDD turn off in 30 minutes. If you are still concerned about the cost of the electricity, look at other areas of life to tighten the budget some, or have connecting friends help with the electric.

I run my SubSonic on a laptop that was given to me by a friend who wanted to connect. The laptop sips power. The added benefit is that it stays on when there is a short interruption in power.

Astronutty, thanks for the advice...old habits die hard, I just prefer having everything cycle fown when not in use. Been doing it that way for years.

In addition, I'm happy to say that after some reading, testing, and a couple pleasant surprises I have achieved success in getting the magic packet to wake the machine.

I'm going to do some additional testing but the process has been successful.
