Network error on android app ????

Postby Geko » Sat Feb 23, 2013 4:20 pm

Hi there
I managed to setup my server and do all the port forwarding

it says on the mainscreen control panel the following

Status: Successfully forwarding port 4040.

Status: xxxxxxxxxxx.subsonic.org responded successfully.

therefore all is well

I downloaded the app for android and added my server address

it says (contacting server )

then says network error

Please help !!

Does your phone connect to the Subsonic demo server?

Does canyouseeme.org test pass your port 4040?

it says Error: I could not see your service on 86.128.56.247 on port (4040)
Reason: Connection timed out

I have a static ip . I port forwarded correctly

I don't get it

Try a router reboot, and also ensure SS is running.

new problem guys !!!
right before i explain my problem
I am a paid user . i have the latest version of subsonic installed
my pc : windows 8 64bit
itel core i5-3210M 2.5 Ghz
memory 8GB

nothing is overclocked or the likes
i have java 7

My router is a BT homehub 3

I have forwarded ports 4040 to my computer on the router using tcp protocal as explained in the tutorial
when i check canyouseeme.org it shows success and the port is open

i have a static ip set

on the browser control panel for subsonic it shows

Status : Successfully forwarding port 4040
Status myname.subsonic.org responded successfully

Everything looks great right ?

its not even close !

I installed the subsonic app on my phone
i tested the demo server , everything worked well i could play songs etc
when i test my server over the wireless network (using wireless internet on phone) in subsonic it say "network error"
it atempts 4 times but to no avail

i added the exception of subsonic to eset smart security 5 firewall and even added a new zone to allow complete traffic and access
to and from subsonic . so the firewall is not the issue

if i use data connection (mobile network ) instead of wireless on my phone then it connects straight away to the server without a glitch

I am deeply confused by this ??
please help me oh wise ones
dont come with any port forwarding nonsense as i am adept at this

Have you tried using the internal_IP:port_# address in the phone app?

e.g. 192.168.0.2:4040

Of course, use your internal server ip and port number.

What happens?

The only likely explanation is that your router is either not set up for, or is incapable of doing loopback address resolution.
