OpenVPN w Subsonic

I've searched every area of the forum and am quite surprised that I've not found any results for question about running Subsonic with OpenVPN.

Now that I have my VPN active my mobile device can no longer access my subsonic server address.

Is anyone savvy with OpenVPN? I need to allow Subsonic traffic without compromising the VPN.

You don't even need the VPN connection. Just open port 4040 on your router and forward that port to the machine running Subsonic.

To clarify, I've been a Subsonic user for years. Just installed OpenVPN last night for security purposes unrelated to Subsonic.

Problem Description: "Connection failure. A network error occurred." reported by Android device when attempting to connect to my usual server.
Troubleshooting Steps: Disabled VPN, connects fine as usual. Need to add an exception to the VPN for Subsonic traffic.
Playback Application and version: Subsonic v3.6 for Android
Server Version: 4.7 (build 3106)
Hardware Platform: Windows 7
Java Memory Limit: 150
