Export DB settings

Postby gurutech » Sun Mar 17, 2013 11:58 pm

My DB just crashed, and I don't have a backup, so I basically had to delete the existing one (renamed folder to "db.old") and allowed MadSonic to recreate the database.

Looking to see if the database can be manually backed up, or portions of it, such as user accounts, media folders, and access rights. I would be more than willing to click an icon at the top that says "Backup DB" and then have options on what parts to back up, then back them up to another location.

And then have the ability to restore those parts of the database if I ever need to.

Easier to create export/import buttons than it is to create a completely new database that doesn't crash.

I do think Subsonic/Madsonic needs to get away from the HQSQL (or whatever it's called). I wouldn't mind going towards MySQL, since I'm familiar with it, or even MS-SQL.

Yah, I wouldn't get my hopes of this actually ever being done. In the mean time though, you can backup the whole subsonic folder on a regular basis to get a working backup of the db.
