None of my playlists have worked since "upgrading" to 4.7, and those are what I almost always use. I know I would really appreciate the Playlist folder coming back. I create playlists from different apps and programs, and sometimes by directly editing in notepad, so bringing that back would be great.

Additionally, it would be nice to have the ability to import playlists that exist on the server from the Subsonic web interface when using it remotely.

Currently in 4.7, when you attempt to import a playlist a dialog box opens on the local machine. If I'm at work and want to import a playlist that exists on the server (at home), I have to remote into the machine and open the Subsonic interface there.

You cannot import a playlist local to the server unless you're using Subsonic on the server itself.

The playlist folder feature would really suit me too. It was way more practical to upload the playlists as needed and to be able to do it remotely from the server. Also, if I made changes to the playlists using the server machine, I would always have access to the latest version. Now, I need to delete it from subsonic and re-upload it every time I make a change.

This would be great!

I too, prefer the "old" play list folder. In the meantime, how do I delete and add play lists manually in the current 4.7 setup. I am really confused...

Any help/explanation would be appreciated.
Thanks

With 4.7 playlists can only be added from the local host PC. You need to click on Add on the left hand side pane and point to the playlist location. If you make changes to the local playlist, you need to follow the same process in order to update it on the server.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply!

I see, but we really need a way to delete multiple playlists and add multiple playlists (like it was before). Seems this way, you can only delete one at a time. Maybe adding the playlist directory to the "Scanned Folders" list will add multiple playlists?? But, could this create duplicate songs??

I'd like for it to go back to the way it was (or a combo of the two).

Any estimation for when and how the old functionality will be re-implemented? :)

We have had no comment from the developer as to if or when he will change a given feature. So unless he chooses to reply to you, there is no way to know.

I really wish this would have been fixed by now. I've been patiently waiting for a fix since last year. I've all but ceased creating playlists for Subsonic because of how they're handled in 4.7. It's maddening to have to re-import a playlist each time I make a change to said playlist in Foobar or my media player of choice. The only thing more frustrating is trying to edit playlists using Subsonic's archaic playlist editing functionality. How difficult is it to downgrade to 4.6 from 4.7?

I just want to make something clear... there is really nothing to fix here. You fix a big. You change or add a feature.

The new database stored playlists work exactly as they are supposed to.

They just work in a method that people don't seem to like...

Just semantics, but important to a developer. A bug fix is different than a feature change.

The playlist issue is not a bug, it's a feature regression.

Ideally, if Sindre cared about the users of his software there would be a version 4.7.1 that fixes this.

bushman4: It's an undocumented feature. One that more people than just me seem to be using. Without it it's more or less impossible to use subsonic together with other players since it maintains its own proprietary database over playlists which you cannot influence externally.
It's not just semantics, it's a question of what subsonic is used for.

We also DO have a comment from the developer regarding it, it's on page 1:

Hi,
I guess a simple fix to improve the situation would be to automatically re-import a playlist if the timestamp of the file has changed.
I should probably also add the "Playlist folder" user setting again.

So we do have acknowledgement from the developer about the feature regression and I would still appreciate an update on when we can expect a replacement, I'm eagerly hoping to upgrade from 4.6. :)

He only mentions import, not export.

But if he chooses to change it, so be it. No skin off my teeth.
