For anyone not keen on navigating Oracle's archives, here's a reliable, clean source for java 6:

I'm having this same problem with Subsonic 4.7 on Win8 x64 as of yesterday after updating Java. I'll try reinstalling Java and see if that helps but if anyone has any other solutions please post.

Code: Select all
C:\Windows\system32>"C:\Program Files (x86)\Subsonic\subsonic-service.exe" -start
Could not start service. Error code: 5

Code: Select all
C:\Windows\system32>java -version
java version "1.7.0_10"

*UPDATE* Updated Java to 1.7.0.17 and reinstalled Subsonic 4.7 and finally got it working! :D

Would this incompatibility affect the external player in any way? One day it worked perfectly, the next day it didn't. The page loads, there is a brief flash (excuse the pun) where the player would normally be, and then all that remains are the top and bottom titles.

When will this issue be resolved???

What is the best workaround?

Tried to do a downgrade to java 7.17 and subsonic 4.7 but has no affect, still have the same problems!

What are the best alternatives to subsonic?

Should this thread still be pinned? Doesn't the latest version of subsonic now work with Java 1.7?

Hey all, my problem was a corrupted database, it appears, I removed all media folders and reset everything, then cleaned the database. Upon reinstall, everything works ok.

How did you clean the db without removing the whole installation?

EDIT: this helped

I'm running Subsonic 5.0 beta 1 on the latest Java 7 on Windows 7. I have ~3TB of media indexed if it matters...

Today I got 503 SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE from Subsonic's Jetty.

I've recovered from a couple complete failures thanks to the subsonic.script, but this time that file was the right size (over 800kb in my case) but completely full of empty/null characters!

I made a copy of the Subsonic directory in case anyone is interested to debug (Sindre?).

I used an older copy of subsonic.script to get my server operational in the meanwhile..

I am assuming it is related to a corrupt DB. What do you think?
If that is the case, then, how can it be solved? I am running MAC.

thanks!@
