How do I make folder view default?

Postby boognish43 » Fri Apr 05, 2013 9:54 am

I read that I can use folder view as a backup if wanted.
a huge reason i downgraded back to 4.6 was because I couldnt view by folders anymore.
I want the features of musiccabinet but need to be able to view by folder.
I have thousands of live shows for different artists and have folders setup to make it easy to view
i.e. Artist->Live shows->1999->

I let it finish scanning but I still dont see this option. Everything else looks amazing!

The main mode is tag based (left column showing artists). You can use the "File tree" icon to browse by directory structure (this only displays indexed albums), or you can go to the bottom of the left column and click "File based browsing" to access your directory structure "live" (so no need to scan).

Browsing by directory combined with last.fm metadata doesn't work really well in my opinion, as it assumes a certain directory structure etc. That's why I switched from the file based browsing from Subsonic 4.6 to complete tag based browsing.

That's a shame that the old file view is disappearing from the newer versions (official and mods). I would love for all of the great additions to be based off the tags but still be able to browse the old way.
I had to downgrade to 4.6 again as it is a nightmare browsing my artists in tag mode - not because of poor tagging but because of the amount of albums I have for some artists(1000+)

Thanks for all you do and I hope at some point I am able to have the best of both worlds
Thanks for responding so quickly
