Windows Phone App

Postby haplo777 » Tue Jan 22, 2013 3:00 pm

I have subsonic on a windows home server and also have the app on my windows phone. What I want to be able to do is just play a random song on my phone.

Only way I have been able to do that so far is to make a playlist with all the songs in it and then shuffle. This can be kind of clunky because anytime I would add new songs I have to change my playlist.

Is there a way to have this app just go play a random song?

Why don't you ask whoever you bought the windows phone app from...

Thanks for such a useful answer. I will go ask the app store how to use the program because they are the ones that will know how to use it.

Makes me not want to purchase the app again on my android tablet.

I think his point is that no one here is involved in the Windows Phone app. They must have their own site somewhere...

The Android App is released by Sindre, the original developer of Subsonic, and is the only mobile application (to my knowledge) that he actually wrote. All of the rest have been created by third-party people.

You might get lucky asking for help with the Windows Phone app here, because someone may be lurking that also uses it. But you will have much better luck at the developer's site:

Good luck,

The two are completely unrelated. The windows app has nothing to do with anyone here. Hell I don't even know if the dev checks these forums at all, let along regularly. And especially because you didn't even bother to say which one you bought and are having issues with. It is a useful answer. You just seem to want a magic answer from people who nothing and have nothing to do with the product you are asking about.

My mistake, I am on the wrong forum. I didn't realize that the apps were third party. Thanks for the responses that explained this and gave suggested ideas were to look.

Hey, I just signed up for the forums because I too am looking for Windows Phone App help. I have had Subsonic working beautifully on my home net and the internet and so I thought I'd be able to buy the Subsonic Music Streamer App that is listed on the Subsonic site. Anyway, I bought and installed the app on my Win7 phone but I must be missing something because no matter what I do I cannot get the app to talk to my server, so far I have forwarded ports 444, 4040, 8089 and have tried the FQDN and the internet IP address but no matter what I cannot see my server from the app on my phone via the internet or at home even using my servers private IP address. What gives? How did you get yours to even see your home network?

Kooch-Your server is being announced on 8089, and served on SSL 444. You'll need either of those ports plus IP on the Windows App, or your subsonic.org addy if it is properly configured for the redirect server. Consult the Tutorials for Windows to do that and test with canyouseeme.org for your ports. Hit 'Save' to update your status on the redirect server.
