You are probably right and I also hope you are right...that being said, Sindre did say to ask any questions here so it might be useful if he expanded on what that means exactly.

Looking forward to the new version. If it solves current issues and annoyances it deserves a donation of a couple of years worth. Thanx for the 'grandfathering' of my current license.

I don't want to burst any bubbles, but I installed it last night and don't see any major differences. I'm sure there were some foundational structural improvements, but I don't see any new features.

It's early yet and I haven't done thorough testing, but if appears to be functionally the same as 4.7.

From what I've seen in the change logs it is mostly REST improvements to support new methods that myself and others have asked for for the end clients. I didn't see much in the way of improvements that people were asking for on the forums.

There's a bug where any user can modify the registration information. Fix is here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11936&p=55382#p55382

I think that makes it more clear in that context:

"New: Introduced Subsonic Premium. (Note: Existing licenses will remain valid)"

Are we EVER going to see the android app updated to use the notification and lock screen controls? The last update was in 2012 and removing ads was the only progress made? This really does not inspire hope, Dsub is absolutely superior at this point.

I don't see the issue. You are correct, dsub is way better than the other app. I just use dsub and forget the rest.

I have a valid premium license, but the red heart and "subsonic premium" link still appears in the top-right corner of the interface. Is there a way to remove that? I have users thinking they're missing-out on features. Thanks!

celindir wrote:Hi there,

I've read the first post but I am not sure what it exactly means.
Please note that all existing licenses will still be valid forever.

Does it mean

a. all existing licenses will still be valid for all upcoming releases of Subsonic
or
b. all existing licenses will still be valid with all versions of Subsonic prior to 4.8

I would be fine with both options because I think Sindre is free to decide as he likes to.
But I want to be shure if upgrading to 4.8 is safe or not for my existing license.

Please clarify

Yours Celindir

To clarify, it's as described in point A above.

I'm a little confused. I made a proper donation back last fall, but now I cannot access my subsonic service , on my PC or phone...I was under the impression that I had a license.... ?

thank you

I'm willing to donate more even to keep this awesome project alive even though I already have my premium for life. Even if I did not have my premium, $1 a month is nothing compared to what your actually getting with subsonic. Well worth $1 a month if you ask me.

Long live subsonic!
