Subsonic blocking Twonky from PS3

Postby nik_bull » Sun Aug 21, 2011 5:56 pm

I know this isn't necessarily a problem with Subsonic, but it is a problem in the sense that I can't use Subsonic until I have a solution. As soon as I fired up the Subsonic server on my PC, my PS3 was no longer able to access files from my Twonky server. Twonky media still shows up on my PS3 & still browses all the media folders but there are no media files showing in any folder. Any idea's on how to remedy this? apart from the possibility of a UPNP/DLNA server mod for Subsonic. Interestingly I can still see & play the media files on my Android Twonky app.

PS, anyone know how to change my user ID. I didn't want it to be my email, I thought I was just setting my login details. Couldn't find an option to delete my account & re-register either.

This is the first time I've seen a conflict reported with Twonky Media on a PS3 and I cannot think of how Subsonic would conflict unless you installed Subsonic on port 80/443 and there is a port conflict involved. I always install SS on 808X and use 45X for ssl to avoid conflicts with ISP's and WHS.

OK. I tried re-installing Twonky, didn't work. Tried uninstalling Subsonic then re-installing Twonky, still doesn't work. Did a complete reset & it started working again. Not sure I want to try subsonic again which is a shame as it's an awesome program.

I can understand your concern, but don't rule out the possibility that the Twonky problem may not be related to Subsonic. This would be the first report of a conflict if that were to prove to be the case here. There is no reason I'm aware of that they should be in conflict.

please keep us posted and let us know if there is anything we can do to help you resolve the problem.

The only thing I can think of are two possibilities: specific port conflict (unlikely, imho), and simply tying up the db while Subsonic does it's intitial scan. Has this issue persisted well after SS completes its scan?

yes it was a permanent fault. The Twonky feed stopped dead as soon as Subsonic opened, then consistently returned no files in every folder even after Subsonic had indexed.

Has anyone come up with any ideas on this issue? I ended up using Audiogalaxy instead of Subsonic but Audiogalaxy has shut down this year. Really want to use Subsonic!

Frustration with Twonky is what led me to Subsonic. I dumped it and never looked back.
