cracking noises between songs

on some player (specially with kaffeine as a subsonic stream listener on linux) i have annoying cracking noises when the song changes.

if i play the mp3's directly from disc (also with kaffeine) it sounds ok.

does anyone have any idea to avoid this or is it a subsonic issue?
