10 seconds into a song equalizer stops and music is flat

About 10 seconds into a song the nice equalizer effects quit and the music is continued, without missing a beat, in a flat sound...no equalizer effects added even though the equalizer button is still lit/active. Why? It sounds so good when I start a song, then boom...flat sound that I can't add any equalizer effects to.

I too get this.
It only started after my phone got the update to JellyBean 4.2.2. Rather than 10 seconds it occurs, so far, after 2 -3 minutes of play back. If I pick another song part way through a playing one the equalizer goes flat then as well. Turning the equalizer off and on does not re-enable it, moving one of the sliders does.
It is getting irritating. I have removed the subsonic app and re-installed numerous times to no avail.
I am not using any other streaming music player so I not know if it is isolated to the Subsonic app.
