Why isn't subsonic updated by user requests? Hence FORKS?

Someone please help me understand why Subsonic development doesn't include a lot of common feature requests? Other frustrated users, that has offered dev help even started their own forks (Music Cabinet, Madsonic, etc).

For example, one feature I desperately need is configurable folder access based on username. That has been suggested many many times, and I've seen Sindre even reply and ask if someone would like that feature (in 2008). And some of the other features in the forks like Artist bio's and auto playlists are awesome.

I just see so much potential that Subsonic could have without the forks, with community dev help. Why doesn't Sindre accept the dev work but still maintain full control of the code? Heck I don't even care if it's closed source and I'll donate or pay for premium features, and I'd pay more than $1 month but would prefer a lifetime subscription option. But before I did that I would want to see more development based on user requests, and give us upcoming features in the next release, etc. I like the way Plex development is setup, and PlexPass, etc. Plex isn't that great for music though, just Movies and TV Shows.

Maybe it's different from Sindre's side of things because I know there's a lot of behind the scene's we don't see.

I have had that same thought a lot of times. I even thought it even further and was thinking why the developers of the forks didn't get together and started a whole new project. That is if Sindre wouldn't accept help.
People are asking for so many fixes, feature requests etc. that it getting to much for one person to develop alone in his spare time.

This is just to say that I hope Sindre will be accepting help so the development will speed up. Not that I hope there will be another project starting up.
