My song list is acting up

Postby pepijntje14 » Thu Jun 18, 2009 8:48 pm

My list on the left side doesn't sort my songs alphabetically
It's like this now: http://i44.tinypic.com/zmkh2.png

While all other people's left side are sorted alphabetically.
I think that it isn't likely that Subsonic isn't recognizing my tags because when I click an individual song it does.

Also: When my I select my music folder, are sub folders automatically included?

Please help me!

Thanks in advance!

Actually, it is sorting it alphabetically...

Folders are all in order:

House
Playlists
10
16
17
2
20

and on and on, that's all in order.

For songs...

First of all, I recommend that you don't put tracks in the root folder and so they will never be shown in the left frame. But, it is still sorting alphabetically there as well, just after it first sorts by track number (maybe album name too, or artist name before that, I didn't do extensive testing, I just tossed like 5 tracks into a root folder to test for you). So it's sorting based on the track number, then the name, but it's only displaying the name there.

And yes, the subfolders are what display in the left frame. If those folders contain subfolders as well, they show up in the main frame when you click the folder in the left frame.

Thanks for the help!

Is there anyway to exclude sub folders so I can still pick my current folder, I don't want to move the files around because of my media player.

Thanks in advance!

There is no way to exclude folders.

Subsonic assumes that all music is stored like this:

Artist/Album Name/ SongFiles.xxx

If you plan to use Subsonic regularly I do think it is worth the effort to organzie your files in such a manner. You can download Media Monkey which has an auto organize function that will actually reorganize all your music for you. If your music has Artist and Album tags it is a fairly straight forward to organize using Media Monkey.
