AVRCP support in Android app?

I know that in order for AVRCP to function correctly there needs to be support for the AVRCP 1.3 profile. I have a Nexus 4 with JB 4.3 which is supposed to have AVRCP 1.3 enabled but somehow the Subsonic Android App from the Play store does not show any metadata. My wife's S3 running JB 4.1 does send metadata correctly to our car stereo. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is there a fix?
