This is where the trouble started...

0 artists
0 albums
17,752 songs
395.35 GB
1,420 hours

Since I installed 4.8 (build 3434), there is something wrong with the DB. Anyone got a clue?

Thanks for answering

Have you rescanned your media folders since upgrading?

Thanks for answering Pewsey!

Of course everything got rescanned a few times, including the automatic scan at 3:00 AM. After reading your posting, I deleted the link to the music directory, meaning to reestablish the link at restart. As a result. the whole C:\subsonic\jetty\3434\jsp is empty, meaning there's no link to a Subsonic index page.

Do you know - by sheer coincidence - where the user/password file is located? Or how I can solve this weird accident?

Of course the Subsonic Control Panel doesn't belong to the web page, I just positioned it there....

I think it is a serious bug. I deleted (clicked the delete box) from the Settings / Media Folders the music directory link, and that deleted the whole Jetty content!

Luckily I make carbon copies of my C drive, every now and then, so I uninstalled 4.8, copied the whole c:\subsonic directory, installed 4.7 and Subsonic functions again, with album count...
Going to try to install 4.8 once again, and see what happens.

All that ends well....

Installed 4.8 over 4.7 once again, and this time everything went smooth and with the expected result: a working DB and smooth operation. Upgraded FFMPEG & LAME, and that seems to create clearer transcoding.

Just for the hack of it:
First step: ffmpeg -i %s -f wav -
Second step: lame -b 192 - -

Superb MP3s @ 192 kbps
