OS X Mavericks: Subsonic fails to start up

Since installing Mavericks on my Mac, Subsonic has failed to start up.

Looking in the logs, I see the following error:

23/10/2013 13:07:31.809 Dock[490]: LSOpenFromURLSpec(file:///Applications/Subsonic.app/) failed with -10658

I also tried from command line with the same result:

$ open Subsonic.app
LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10658 for the file /Applications/Subsonic.app.

I've tried reinstalling 4.8, but still get the same error message.

Is there a workaround?

Try this command:

chmod +x /Applications/Subsonic.app/Contents/MacOS/subsonic

You may need to set the file to "executable" mode using the above line.

Hi, that file doesn't exist in my installation...

I'll try running DiskUtility and see if that clears up any permissions problems...

Turns out not to be a Mavericks problem, but Java...

I "downgraded" from 1.7 to 1.6.0_65 and Subsonic works no problem!

May want to take a look at Madsonic, which is built upon Subsonic. It has a lot more features, and will run on Java 1.7 with no issues.

I cannot find a link to the old build anywhere ...
