Download zip or rar, and without the cover.jpg file

Postby iGor » Sun Feb 09, 2014 9:05 am

Hi,

I've just migrate my Web server from an old machine to a new one. The old one was under Fedora, and the new one is under Debian Wheezy. I've installed the subsonic.4.9.deb, with my old files, and everything is ok, even better, as long as the 4.9 version is a good one ! :)

But I'm encountering some strange behaviour when it comes to downloading an album. When I clic on the link "download all" of the album, the downloading windows of the browser opens, and I get a strange message :
Ouverture de Panthalassa - The Remixes.zip_189.png

I don't understand why is it recognized as a .rar files if the extension is a zip one ? Is it a .rar or a .zip ?

And when I download the zip or rar file, and extract the files, most of the times the file "cover.jpg" that I put in every album folder, isn't there.

here's the part of subsonic.log concerned with the downloading of an album :
Code: Select all

I think that it has something to do with the configuration of the new machine with Debian. Something like a missing package, but which one ? I've check for zip, and it's there... Does anyone have some clue ?

In fact, I don't use that feature at all : I've got my complete music collection on a NAS which is mounted with NFS everywhere I need it. Otherwise, I listen to the music through the streaming.

But one person in my family is using it a lot, and this person told me the problem. He's using Mac OS and get a strange file, with the music files in it, but aren't well recognized by his system. I've got to ask him more question to understand.

[edit] I've forgotten the best part. I've restarted the old server, with subsonic 4.8 on it, and see the same behaviour. That strange. Maybe it's a problem on his system ?

[edit2] But still, the file cover.jpg isn't in the .zip anymore and that is strange

[4.9bug?] : Download zip or rar, and without the cover.jpg f

Postby iGor » Sat Feb 15, 2014 2:43 pm

I've found a "solution" : apt-get remove subsonic && dpkg -i subsonic.4.8.deb
Luckily I have still the 4.8.deb. So the problem come from the 4.9 version of subsonic. I even think that everything was ok with 4.9.beta1, at least. So is someone aware of that bug ? I mean, with the 4.9 version of subsonic, downloading albums doesn't work so good for Mac OS X client (in this case the 10.6.8 version of Mac OS X). From that OS, when downloading you don't get a .ZIP file, and there's no cover.jpg in it.

I've been testing all the 4.9.beta version. The problem is appearing in the first beta version.

So. When using the 4.9 version of subsonic, to download albums from some version of Mac OS X, the user don't get a valid ZIP file. When using the 4.8 version, and older ones, the same user using the same version of Mac OS X, is getting a valid ZIP file.

Is there a way to understand why there is this problem ?

It's even worst than that I had understood. With the 4.9 version, the Mac OS X user, when downloading the complete album, doesn't get a valid ZIP file, neither correctly named files, e.g. files name after the title of the track, and the cover.jpg file isn't there.
With the 4.8 version, the ZIP file is correct, and all the files are named after the title of the track, and the cover.jpg is there. With 4.9.beta1 and 4.9.beta2, the ZIP file isn't valid, but in the "download.view" folder that the user get after uncompressing the strange download file, the files are correctly name after the title of the track, and the cover.jpg is there.

This is really anoying. And I still don't understand what is the source of this problem. Is it a bug ?
