No sound on hosted server

Postby rickgood » Wed Mar 05, 2014 2:21 am

I was successfully using subsonic on my home computer but stepped up to the gigaport hosting option. My locally accessed files work fine but none of the songs will play on the hosted server. They appear to start but never do. It's on all players. The host company says everything is set up correctly so i'm coming here to seek answers. Any ideas?

Do you have ssh access to the server? What's in the log file?

Something like this:

I have decided to just use the home server version.

Apparently lame has a missing dependency. If you're interested in fixing it, try running lame on the command line by itself and see if you get the same error. If so, try reinstalling lame.
Also, I'm curious why you're using lame instead of the default ffmpeg transcoder.

I'm new to all this - I assume it was the default as it is the only choice in my player settings. If the lame is deleted will the system automatically use the default ffmpeg transcoder?

I believe it would try to play everything natively in that case. Probably not a good idea.
Check your Transcoder settings, do they match the recommendations? http://www.subsonic.org/pages/transcoding.jsp
