how is dlna supposed to work?

Postby acroyear » Tue Apr 08, 2014 5:06 pm

Server: Subsonic 4.9, java 7, windows xp box (i'm upgrading it soon, promise)
UPNP client: vlc 2.0.5

I go to the "UPNP" sidebar option in VLC, and I see Subsonic there. I click it? nothing. I try to "expand", nothing.

In subsonic itself, I see the logs
[4/8/14 12:59:26 PM EDT] INFO FolderBasedContentDirectory UPnP request - objectId: 0, browseFlag: BrowseDirectChildren, filter: *, firstResult: 0, maxResults: 0

Am I (or VLC) doing something wrong?

Answering my own from ages ago - basically, my collection is so large that it just takes a lot of time for VLC to actually collect all the data to provide me something to play.
