[Resolved] SS App on KitKat not downloading Music to SD Card

Not working for me.

SGS4 Kitkat 4.4.2

DSub

Use to work & still works if I set it to the internal memory.

Dsub set the default folder as above extsdcard/github... files/music
It actually has created the folder fine but Dsub would not play or cache.

Looking as location using Astro the folder is there OK but I cannot copy any files to it or the folder above

Strange it let DSub create the folder but nothing else can be written.

Very annoying..

Try sending me a log (Home - Send Log) after trying to download a song and it failing. I can try to take a look at it.

Fixed.

It is now working which is really weird.

I refreshed the server music a few times but I had already done that lots of times but it must have just cleared something.

Hopefully will stay OK and was just a blip as is usually reliable.

Been trying to get this working and finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Not sure if I had missed an instruction, but thought that if I had then others might too and this will help them.

I was trying to manually create the folder (as described earlier in this thread) and then point the Subsonic app at it; but it would not work. Then I went into the "settings\apps\subsonic\" and selected "move" to move the App to the SD card. This allowed the app to use the folder "sd_card\Android\data\net.sourceforge.subsonic.androidapp" which I then moved all my existing music into.

Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.

Does anyone have a solution specfically for Galaxy S5? I have tried changing the cache location to the one listed without success. i have also tried moving the app to the sd card without any luck

Rob's suggestion of moving the app to the SD card worked for me - and I ran into an additional hurdle. I'm used to using the Astro File Manager, but trying to create the folder underneath /storage/extSdCard/Android... wasn't working. I had to use the built-in file manager app "My Files" in order for it to create the folder, but from there it worked out great!

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that this issue could end up causing massive data usage for some people. I have a little data monitor on my phone that shows transfer speeds in real time and when this problem hit my phone was downloading at 40Mb/s and just keept going until I cleared the queue. Since this was on my wifi it wasn't a problem but imagine someone who runs into this while using a metered connection and decides to put off trying to troubleshoot it for a few days.

^^ This. This is exactly what happened to be this past Friday evening. My monthly quota had just been reset two days prior and I received a text saying I had used 65% of my data quota. Opened the settings and saw that the application had used 1.6 gigs in 24 hours.... I was shocked.

This is no longet resolved by just disallowing the custom directory. Now my phone storage is used instead of my SD card. The workaround here worked fine.

I'm sorry to say that I still have the problem on my phone. I can browse my library, but can't play songs (Downloading 0b).

Some tech specs.
Using a Samsung Note III with android 4.4.2 running.
Using Subsonic client 4.3
Using Subsonic server 4.9
Cache folder is set to /storage/emulated/0/subsonic
I can't move the app to my SD card, it says I don't have a SDcard very strange, because I do have a sdcard.

My wife has a Note II with android 4.3 and this device can still play all the songs, but she isn't using the newest client version from the play store.

If additional information is required, please ask. I'll do my best to help.

This is simular to my problem. The one difference is that i DONT have a SD-Card. It wont play songs (Downloading 0b), but still used up my quota (90%) This started after latest update of APP. worked flawlessly before the update.
Device is Sony Experia Z1 Compact w/kitkat.
Tried uninstall, clear all data,change cache size, but no luck in making it work.

Similar problem for me. Until today it was working fine but now I cant play music anymore at all I found out that all my music went from the external SDCard (sdcard1) to the internal memory (sdcard) which is also quite sad (I bought an 32GB SD-card just to store my subsonic music there). It does not show any offline music anymore even though all music is available in /sdcard/subsonic/music
Also I am not able to change the cache location anymore.

Running 4.3.1 on Sony Z1 compact.

Yesterday's client update Subsonic 4.3.1 fixed my issue. Thank you kindly!
I hope the problem will be fixed soon for the others.
