Nothing happens...

Postby MeneerJansen » Wed May 21, 2014 2:11 pm

I installed the .deb (Linux) for Subsonic ver. 4.9 and the Java runtime version advised on the installation instructions. But nothing happens when I open my browser and go to localhost:4040. I get the cryptic error:
Code: Select all
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

And /var/subsonic/subsonic.log reads:
Code: Select all

What can I do to get Subsonic pu and running?

You need to open port 4040 on your iptables file, or in the firewall.

Thanks for the tip. That does seem to solve something. I enabled "UPnP" on my router and now I get a different error message when I surf to localhost:4040. It's:
Code: Select all
HTTP ERROR: 503

SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
RequestURI=/

Powered by jetty://

BTW: I discovered that the Android client for Subsonic isn't free. Just like Windows isn't (@GJ51: I'm a freeloading bastard so I refuse to pay for an OS or software). And..., erm well,... like I told the ever so nice and full-of-constructive-commentary GJ51 already: I'm a freeloading bastard so I think I'll pass on the whole Subsonic streaming music idea.

Bye.

If you haven't already, try restarting the subsonic service, or (gasp), the server itself.

Also be sure to check your iptables file (ie. the "Firewall" on the server) to make sure port 4040 is open. (I set mine to UDP and TCP, but I think you only need TCP).
