I had to clear my cookies on Chrome before it showed itself...it's beside the player, you'll see it as it's obvious, once it finally shows.

NM, apparently you can't cast from a non-WIFI machine. Not being able to go through the router makes me sad (though of course not a Subsonic problem) :(

I can cast from my wired pc just fine. I installed the chromecast addon from the chrome addon website and it worked out of box with my pc <-> router. Only to setup chromecast I had to use my mobile ^^

Tried 5.0 beta1:
I have a couple of issues with the new video player:
1. The new video player does not support selecting the Bit Rate anymore!
2. There is no dropdown menu anymore to select a time index to start the movie from.
Some movies allow to scroll in them using the progress bar, but for other movies this simply does not work. However the index jumps used to work in the previous version.

I too am having this problem. I have users with slow internet connection and they can't watch videos without changing their bit rate to a lower setting. HELP!!!

I tried the 5.0 beta1 version.
works fine but I noticed that it is no longer possible to set the bitrate in Flash Player.
This causes some performance problem with slow lines.
Would it be possible to restore this option?

regards.

The log says only this, which doesn't look to be a problem:

[2014-05-27 15:48:49,837] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream - Starting transcoder: [/Library/Application Support/Subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg] [-i] [/Volumes/400 GB/Music/Front Line Assembly/Improvised Electronic Device [FLAC]/03 Hostage.flac] [-ab] [128k] [-v] [0] [-f] [mp3] [-]

(This is on a web-player by the way, through Chrome and Firefox)

Does it happen to all flac files? I tried one myself (on a Mac) and it worked. If possible, can you make a sample flac file available to me?

Thanks
Sindre

I have the same problem with FLAC and M4A, both on Mac an PC. The playback is not starting, if I skip into the song, the playback starts.

After upgrading to 5.0 beta 1, I had same problem of mp3 files not playing on iSub. You could see it fully cache and then drop to zero. I had transcode (max bitrate) set to 192khz. The "fix" is to set transcode to "none". It appears transcode may not be working properly. Downgraded to 4.9 transcoding works again, no more problems.

Flac works fine on my debian7 server with the default ffmpeg transcode settings on 5.0.

In the past I did use:

Step 1: flac --decode --stdout %s
Step 2: ffmpeg -i - -acodec libmp3lame -ab %bk -f mp3 -

Seems to be happening on all FLAC files; I've tried over a dozen from various albums; most were created by xACT, some were created with other software.

Link to a typical FLAC file from my collection:

Thank you very much! I think the problem is that the flac contains multiple streams (one for the audio and one for album art). Adding "-map 0:0" to the ffmpeg command in the transcoding settings seems to fix it.

I will add that to the final release. In the meantime it would be good if everyone who experience this problem manually add "-map 0:0" to see if that works.

Thanks

tmwsiy wrote:Since upgrading, every web player I use: Chrome, Firefox, Safari: there is an excruciatingly long wait after hitting play. Tracks used to start playing instantaneously. Now it is about five - ten seconds. Don't see anyone else posting this concern so perhaps it is a coincidence and something specific to me. Regardless, I've tried restarting, reinstalling. Same result. Anything else I can try? Been using Subsonic for several years and never had this problem until 5.0.beta1.

What format is the audio file? Is ffmpeg used for transcoding/downsampling?

If you could send me the subsonic.log when this happens, as well as a sample music file it would be most helpful!

Thanks in advance!

In addition to the transcode issues that I am having (downsample and transcode from anything to mp3), chromecast will only show logo over a wooden background, no audio or anything. You can briefly see the file load with a progress bar and the title but then thats it, back to the logo.

Adding the -map 0:0 parameter on the Subsonic server sorted the transcoding for my iSub client (3.1.5 on IOS 7.1.1).

I don't have FLAC, but it was happening to the odd mp3 file. strangely it seemed to always be track 1, but that may just have been a coincidence.
