Problems with Song Stuttering and ID3 Tag Reading

Postby JesterTX2001 » Mon Jul 20, 2009 9:59 pm

Hello all,

I have only two problems with this fantastic software and would like to know if anyone can help. The first problem is that some songs seem to stutter/hiccup during playback and I'm not sure why. My library consists mostly of MP3s, with a few WMAs here or there, and no other format. What's strange is that a few songs from an album may stutter, yet other songs within the same album will play just fine. As an example, all songs in said album could be the same bitrate (192 kbps) and are all MP3s, yet only 3 out of 10 would skip. I can see that it is not a buffer issue as the amount that has been downloaded far exceeds what spot the song is at. I can sometimes fix this by quickly pausing and playing the song, or by skipping forward to a part in the song that has already been downloaded. This, however, does not always work. I am using the embedded flash player since I have no need to use anything else and would prefer to continue using it.

My second problem is that Subsonic's index doesn't seem to be registering the new ID3 tags I entered. I used TagRunner to mass edit my library's metadata and it looked like it completed without error (save a few dozen that couldn't be changed for whatever reason), but Subsonic doesn't show that. I edited them last week and I know the index gets updated every night at 3:00AM by default, so I waited over the weekend to see if it would finally refresh, but to no avail. I haven't tried manually updating the index since I figured the same result would occur.

Please let me know if more information is needed to troubleshoot this and I'd be happy to oblige. In case you'd like to try streaming these songs from the embedded flash player yourself to test it out, go to http://jestertx2001.blogsite.org , login with guest as the username/password and play the Lemon Parade album from Tonic. A few of the songs in that album, as well as other albums, stutter. Also, you can see that the index on the left isn't as neat as I'd like it to be.

Anyway, sorry for the long post...figured too much information is better than not enough! And Sindre, you have no idea how life-saving your software is when I'm at work. I've tried other personal streaming software and yours comes out on top.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Jes
