Well, there are two txt files in the root directory (one for each SS and MC). Nothing much in the MC file, but a whole stream of info in the SS one, which mentions some kind of error, twice referencing 'Table is referenced by a constraint in table SYS_REF_SYS_FK_194_200'.

Any thoughts..?

PS previously uninstalled MC along with required DB app, then reinstalled db app + tried standalone install before windows install again. Same issue (and couldn't uninstall original SS after uninstalled MC install).

UPDATE: feeling reckless, so deleted all but back up folder in main SS folder, and reinstalled. HAve finally managed to get past the login screen - yay! ;)

Question now of course..

- is there any way to reinstate my previous SS library (maybe just copy on top of new empty db files)?
- will my previously tricky portforwarding/SS domain work with this?!

Too much fun (!)

I don't believe you can put the old library back but rescanning your music folders will do the same thing. As long as you set the port in subsonic.bat to the same port you were using before it should 'just work.'

Seems to be working OK, although waiting for scan to complete - seems until that's done, I can only browse via folders (which feels even more basic than standard SS UX). Also, seems strange that unlike standard SS, you don't start to see any albums populate areas until this scan is complete, I guess? (So far, most of the top level icons default to the settings media folder area.)

As for the port, I saw the ref in the bat file when I tries that, but since this is now based on the install file version, I just changed the port in the systray config.

Only other specific issue I've come across so far is that I had to open the last.fm config in a new window, otherwise frame just went blank.

PS seems strange no-one has stepped forward to continue development of this, or at least a fork, as it looked like the developer is open to that on his GitHub page (and seems shame it can't at least be updated with major releases of original SS client).

PPS loving the RolleShark skin though :)

Yeah, you aren't going to see much of anything until the scan finishes. Depending on the size of your library, it could be quite a while.

The Last.FM frame has been a bug for a while.

Last.fm not an issue, as long as folks know the work-around ;)

PS left overnight but doesn't appear to have made any progress at all since I left it:

It certainly should have moved on by now. You'll see those [not started] tasks change to numbers. As far as I know, these last few tasks should all be using Last.FM data so there may be an issue there. I seem to remember having an issue like this when I first installed the server, but it's been a while.

Try simply logging out and logging back in. If that doesn't do it, you could also stop and start the server again. I'm guessing your music made it into the database but none of the Last.FM bits did. Another scan should get that taken care of. Let me know what happens and I'll help if I can.

Thanks. Although sure I stop/started the server already, if not also logged out and back in again. Will give both a shot and keep you posted. Really appreciate help - thanks! ;)

Ps is there any way I can force another scan/rescan, as can't see the option anywhere?

I'm not aware of a way to force the scan to stop while it's running. Restarting the server should make it stop...

Well, partial success at least! I stopped and restarted the server last night and suddenly had the scan option back again (as if it had never done it in the first place). Also, seems it had forgotten/dropped the last fm link which I'd done before. Either way, I limited it to one drive and within a fairly short time it had scanned this, and once I'd reset last fm, started to go through the rest. Have since enabled the rest of my collection sources, so will see if they start being scanned again once the last dm scan of the first source is complete (no sign of this happening as I left it this am). Only thing I've found working with the original scan is the lack of folder level browsing on mobile - as it simply brings up a list of artists. Don't suppose there's any way to re-enable this? I know the option's there in the brower, but use this a lot on mobile. If not, any idea if Madsonic offers this - and how does it compare with Music Cabinet in how it links with last fm, any ideas?

MusicCabinet is designed to display the artist name (which it gets from tags) instead of a folder view. That said, on mobile there should be an option at the top of the library list called "Media Folders" which will let you browse your music by folder instead of artist. There isn't an option to default to folder view.

I don't have any experience with MadSonic but I do use MusicCabinet primarily on mobile. It works really well with DSub for Android. One thing I really like about MusicCabinet is the Last.FM integration. When you navigate to an artist you will have "Artist Radio," "Related Artists," and "Top Tracks" which pulls from Last.FM. These were a little confusing for me to begin with but Artist Radio pulls tracks from similar artists, Related Artists show similar artists and Top Tracks plays the popular artists tracks from Last.FM. These are the reason I still use MusicCabinet. :D

That said, I have noticed a few issues, primarily with DSub expecting features from more recent version of Subsonic. For example, DSub has Genre and Decades options, neither of which will work. However, for genres, you can filter your music by genre by pressing "Select Folder" on the library view. I actually prefer this and it seems to work really well. I believe you will have to configure this first by clicking "Genres" at the top of the web view or by going to Settings -> MusicCabinet -> Tag Settings (at the very bottom).

Thanks. Saw that media folders option on ipod iSub, but don't think it was there on my main (windows) mobile equivalent app.
Anyhoo, will see how the rest of my collect has gotten on when I get home! :)

Update: still not been able to add/get MC to scan my other drives. Could it be because they are USB drives? Never been an issue before.
